I don't disagree with you that money is driving "this" bus. But to compare the future to our move to the Sun Belt is not an apples-to-apples comparison. We are talking about universities aligning with members of their ilk with student-athletes. If you remove the student portion from the equation some schools may not want to participate in that venture. Schools like Duke, Vandy and Stanford don't need television money and conference affiliation to survive.
