Once again I've been offline for a while (getting very old). I have made several posts about him in the thread. As hap said it's down to a full offer from us and a walk-on at Clemson. He said he enjoyed his visit here this weekend. He was also here on a unofficial for the CSU game. He's taking his official to Clemson this weekend and will decide after that.

Also adding DB/WR D. J. Sanders (6′ 1″ 190) of Washington County High School in Sandersville, GA, a MTSU commit, to the list of visitors for this weekend. He took an official to MTSU this past weekend. One to watch.

So, I would guess that Haralson will get an offer now with Canty de-committing? saw that he will be taking an official to App this coming weekend, iirc

I would say you're correct about that. Haralson has been in pretty much the same place as Sam Blue is, with commits and offers not allowing additional offers. With Canty gone we've now got another place. Looking at the Main Page we've got 16 WR offers still out (2 listed in the ATH section), even before Haralson. Obviously we're not going to get most of those players but the offers are there and we are in the serious running for at least 4 or 5 of those. But I would be very surprised if Haralson didn't get an offer by the end of the visit, if not before Friday.

It was doubtful Penny would ever play QB for App, he probably took a look at the depth chart.

Going back to Moose's last post, I think it's fairly clear that "we" want a big receiver. Those are Edwards ( which seems to have no interest), Eaton ( more of a stretch it seems) Scott ( who we like but doesn't like us) and Harlason. While we have offers out on slot and speed guys...they don't count in the big receiver race. I would agree that we will offer him soon. I thought we might offer him today. It is interesting that of all of them he's the only one that has expressed significant interest and we can't pull the trigger. I think its the case where "we" think we have him so we don't need to offer him and try to get the others we like more. You can only play that game for so long. I think at the end of the day, we need his size and mismatch-ability ( I know nice word huh?) We missed it last season and this year we don't have Tony Washington.

Sorry guys but once again I'm having the usual evening internet blackout. Can almost set my watch by it.

I've quietly had Smith in the soft section on my list for a few weeks since Rollins didn't show interest and also looking at the depth chart, as was mentioned above. If he felt he had to go to UTC to be able to compete then that's his choice.

Don't be surprised to see some more decoms in the next few days. My personal list has 4 more likely but maybe it will stop at three. But I also expect a few surprise commits to come too. It might not be as bad as it looks right now. From conversations I had things are pretty much tracking along the lines that the staff was expecting. Problem is we've had commits for so long that the table has been too full to throw around offers when there was a chance that commits really would come. We had to make sure we didn't go over. It looks bad right now but I've been saying for weeks that we wouldn't know until the 5th exactly who we will have. Everybody keep their chins up. It ain't over till it's over.

The one thing you have to keep in mind in regards to Haralson is that he himself posted that App was off the table a few weeks ago. He said it wasn't his choice nor was it the coaches fault. It was the same day that the first batch of acceptance letters and e-mails were sent out. You can draw your own conclusions from that set of messages. He has not said a thing about App since then until a little over a week ago. I had removed him from my list because it appeared that he wasn't going to come but something changed. I have my ideas but I'll leave it at that. But it might explain why no offer was made in the lead up to and during the dead period. We'll see when the offer does come.

What little I saw of him on video thought Penny Smith was the best QB that we had ever signed. His ability to create space seemed superior to any QB here this side of Armanti it seemed.

Hey moose, thanks for the info on Haralson. It's hard to know the "nuances" without all the info. As I have said many times, I/we really appreciate all your hard work. I know you have your reasons for withholding certain info. You said you think there will be about 4 decommitts, for clarification, is that including P. Smith and Cants leaving two more or do you think there will be four more?

His release is awkward, he would have been a deandre type player maybe. He would have never started at QB.

Would have enjoyed watching him at WR though.

Would think coaches thought he could or we would never have offered to him.

Removing the fact (but keeping in mind) that anyone not already enrolled or signed could be taken if the right offer comes along; on my personal list I believe we'll have 1-3 more decoms (maybe 4 but that one would really be a surprise unless a BCS offer comes in) in addition to Smith, Canty, and Washington. One I believe is a sure bet he's gone and at least two others are jelly. One of those I've had "soft" for a while but it's where he might go if he does decom that would surprise me. I don't want to name names as this is an open board and recruits, friends, and families do read it.

It's the same reason I don't say things I know are facts if they are not in the open. Pay sites are a little more secure but I still don't say things because I know it can cause problems should they get out. I try and give everybody the best info I can but there are times I just can't say something no matter how badly I want to. Plenty of people on here have good sources but if you start giving out too much or you say something that hurts the teams or school then you don't have those sources anymore.

I know some are upset with the decoms but it's the nature of the beast and to be expected at our level now. But there will also be a few "surprises" coming in too. No matter how badly the staff hates it when someone they've worked with for so long to build a great relationship leaves them, they have backups on the board just in case. You just have to hope your backups are still available or that you can poach them yourselves. If anyone wants proof of this and of the kind of talent we've gone after this year I say go to the Main Page and take a look at the "Offered/Committed Elsewhere" section. We've put out close to, if not over now, 200 offers. Only 5 (maybe 6) of those went to FCS schools. Every other one went to an FBS school and many went to BCS schools. That shows the level of players we've gone after. I would be more worried if schools weren't trying to take our players. We'll win some battles and we'll lose some but for a transitional school with their first FBS class we're not doing all that bad, even with the decoms. We'll just have to see where we wind up on the 5th.

The coaches are clearly higher on JP. Penny was being recruited as an athlete first, QB second.

Canty finally got his Vandy offer today and Washington picked up offers from Louisville and Syracuse today. I have a feeling that he'll not be at Akron. We wouldn't have kept these guys even if they hadn't already de-committed. And WR Caleb Scott has picked up an offer from Missouri today. At least we know we're going after some potential talent.

Walton is the new Canty for me.

I hope we can keep him, but I am not expecting him to sign with us. Would be a huge get though.

Seems as if Missouri is making a lot of late first time offers. Must be something wrong there or
they got poached a lot.

Vandy lost several of their commits to Penn State when their coach took the job at PSU. They will be looking to restock with several late offers.

Missouri has popped up on a lot recently. They're getting about as annoying as Minnesota. ;) I mentioned it on 24/7 that it seems like they are showing a lot of late interest in players we've been showing interest in for a while. As you said they either have been poached or they lost several of their targets that they thought we're committing to them. It does speak to the talent that we are targeting that two SEC schools are working a lot of them now, in addition to several teams from all the other BCS conferences except the PAC-12.
