Interesting how things work out. Two weeks ago we get our clocks cleaned by El Cid, now El Cid is losing to Chatty. The same Chatty we dominated last week. If we can stay focused the rest of the way, I believe we will have a very good season.

Local product and Watauga High alum, Eric Breitenstein set the SoCon record for rushing yards in a game with 321 yards on 27 carries today for Wofford vs Elon. He broke Armanti Edwards record of 313.

Congrats to Eric, he is going to be a hand full October 20th. That and going to GSU will spell for a tough stretch at the end of the month.

We beat a team that hadn't beaten anyone this year. It took them 3 Ot's to barely beat a Furman team who hasn't beat anyone that matters either. I'm glad we won this game but at the same time I'm not all that excited about it because it really doesn't prove much. It proves we can beat a weak team. The team and the coaches are going to have to take this win and turn it in to something positive that lasts longer than one saturday. This is by no means a fire Moore comment but this game was by no means a vindication of our early season inconsistency. I'm still not convinced that this is a team that can make a playoff run. Sammy, G-south, and Wofford could very easily all be losses. I need to see some true consistency against good competition before I can get a better feeling about possible playoffs this year. Even the Montana game which was supposed to be our big game isn't looking as shiny anymore. They are 2-2 and as I am posting this are losing 14-10 to Eastern Washington. I wouldn't be knocking the fire Moore people yet because all we did was beat a weak team. This staff now has to prove that they can turn this in to momentum and consistency for the next couple games against Elon and what appears to be a decent sammy. I just hope that the players don't get the big head after this game going to play an Elon team who would love to take advantage of a cocky team.

App played well today, anyone who argues is blind. However, anyone who says that this win was nothing but peaches and cream is a moron. This team has a lot to work on, still. Price, even though his stats won't show it, is still young and left some plays on the field (2 balls hit him in the hands that should have been sure catches). The defense played pretty well, but the DBs still aren't turning around, and it appears that guys aren't always lining up in the right places. We still cannot cover a RB coming out of the backfield, but that's been an issue for years.

There's a lot to be excited about. The energy amongst the players was high. The playbook grew by a few pages. Jeremy Kimbrough is a beast. But to say that there is nothing that needs work is false. There are always things that can be worked on.

And finally, Coastal did not play well, and I'm really glad that Aramis Hillary is not our QB. He didn't show much, and had a weak arm.

I think we all knew coming into the season that we are a very young team with a lot of question marks but with loads of talent and potential. Throw in an all new offensive coaching staff and I think we should all expect some inconsistencies and growing pains. How about you Debbie Downers just let us enjoy the wins and if it makes you feel more like a big man to bit*# and moan when we don't do as well, then that,ll be your big opportunity.

Well stated, WVAPPeer. BTW, did you catch the post game show where a West Va Mountaineer fan called into the App show accidently? He thought he was calling in to the WVU version of the Mountaineers. It seems like there are fans who hate for us to win because it makes it more difficult for them to crticize the coaching staff and JM in particular. However, they seem to find a way. If we beat a good team, we should have beaten them worse. If we beat a lesser team then we showed no accomplishment. It gets old.

I'm trying my best to not sound like a smart $$$ but can someone honestly tell me what JM does on the sidelines? I don't want this to sound negative but I have been wondering this for several years. I watch other coaches get fired up at officials/players etc but JM always stands the farthest away from the play. I never see him interacting with other coaches/players, ever.
I'm not knocking him just wondering what he, as a head coach, does on the sidelines?
I waited until after a win to post this because I didn't want this to be a "fire JM" post after a loss... I love me some JM...

I never saw John Wooden (UCLA basketball coach jumping up and down yet they set records that have never been broken. Same can be said for Dean Smith. Same for our former coach, Sparky Woods. Moore communicates via the headset radio to other coaches and to the box.
Many coaches do their firing up during the week, in the locker room, etc. Every coach doesn't have to be Mr Rah Rah. Too, much of the firing up so to speak falls on the team mates and especially the captains. Focus is just as important as the rah rah stuff. That's just my take, AG1.

FWIW, our high school team was not permitted to talk on the bus on the way to away games and not on the way back unless they won.

I laughed so hard at this guy. Couldn't have even been listening or he would have heard us talking about our players and not theirs. Must have just googles Mountaineer post-game and just called the number that came up.

Thanks for letting me know. I really wasn't trying to be negative about it. I didn't realize that he could talk to his assistant coaches on the sidelines through his mic. I just thought that he was giving them full throttle to do what they thought best. I still would like to see him getting "moore" into the game than just standing around.
He needs a "15 yarder" every now and then IMO...
