i think the Ar State coaches begged him to think about it some more, and not to make a hasty decision...they could say don't get caught up in the heat of the moment, you have 8 days to make your mind up...we(Ar state) will always be there for you ;-)...we really want you and your buddy that plays here wants you to play here....just take more time...its your right to take more time....bla bla bla

I am not good with wishy washy....never have ....so take 8 days and do what you are going to do !

We have options if you are looking for size. Mason Sanders 6-6" 215. Posted a link to him looks good to me. Kid plays basketball and is stud there as well. 6'-6" 215 can't teach size!

One of Arkansas State's recruiting websites offers a brief take on Matthew Eaton's decision to de-commit:

I've had him in my "Considering App" section for a while since he listed App as his favorite months ago. But he hasn't picked up an offer yet. Who knows what might happen now but I'm thinking they could be looking at maybe a PWO. Hasn't been mentioned much and all his offers are D2 right now.

Big day for Ga Southern. They jumped 5 spots to second in the SBC recruiting ranks with 9 3 star recruits.

Amazing what ditching a high school offense will do.

Did they actually get a bunch of new commits, or did 247 just get around to rating a bunch of guys who were already on board?

Georgia Southern signed several today and yesterday. They jumped ahead of App to 2nd
in the SBC.
Some huge linemen. Their recruiting includes some Texas, no surprise considering SHSU coach,
and Oklahoma.

Just looking at their commit list, it actually is only showing 5 3* recruits, but several who aren't rated. Don't know if that's an issue with the mobile site not being updated or what. So at the least, it seems like some of those guys got their 3* after committing to GSU.

Also worth noting that of the five who are showing up as 3* by 247, only two get a 3* in the composite ratings. By contrast, five of App's eight 3* are also 3* in the composites, plus Hopkins who is a 2* on 247 but a 3* in the composite.

Sounded to me like he wants to come to App but Mom wants him closer to home.

if you guys ever get a chance, watch the Book of Manning that was shown on ESPN a few months ago. Its about the values that Archie and his wife gave there sons and he talks about the recruiting of his sons by collage programs. One of the lessons he taught his sons was he didn't care, nor would he interfere with which Collage his kids picked, BUT he made it very, very clear, to chose wisely, because once you commit, you will not change your mind, and you will honor your commitment. I know alot of kids and their familes are having a difficult time making this tough decision, but there is also a life lesson here to honor ones commitments.

Multiple App NFL players now tweeting at Eaton asking him to contact them with any questions.

Powerful statement there.

I'm sure our coaches are in contact with him and will continue to pursue him. However, I think he is likely going to wind up at StAte. He does need to go where he feels he fits in best. No hard feelings but I wish he hadn't jumped the gun.

Young or not, I WISH folks would learn the definition of:

com·mit·ment noun \kə-ˈmit-mənt\

: a promise to do or give something

: a promise to be loyal to someone or something

: the attitude of someone who works very hard to do or support something

even if we lose out to ARK ST, there is atleast the positive our coaching staff seem to really know what they are doing in terms of recruiting, they seem to pull out all the stops, gave it their best shot, didn't look like they made any mistakes, kid seem to have a really positive take of not only the program but the school itself, sometimes it just doesn't work out. If we keep recruiting like this, we are going to win more battles than we lose in the future.

I agree with you.. the problem is it happens all the time when coaches extend an offer then take it back when someone else commits. It has to be a two way street in terms of staying committed.
