Sanders is listed on MTSU's official site now, so he's on board for them.firemoose wrote:24/7 has him back as a hard commit and Rivals has Sanders as signing his MTSU NLI today. Not sure which it is but it's why I went another direction. Still it could be anyone.ASUGoose wrote:
How about D.J. Sanders as well? I think he still is soft verbal commit to MTSU but I heard he was still looking at App and is listed as DB/WR.

Yeah, he and the 28 other DB's should have fun this year. And they've already offered 17 for 2015. Guess their entire defense is DB'sebapps1 wrote:Walton, that was the one I was thinking of. Indiana? WTF?

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Curious, as I'm new to App recruiting but what happened so that we don't have good relationships with HS coaches in the state? I've always heard something about Friday night games years ago which I know HS coaches wouldn't/shouldn't be happy about but I believe East Carolina use to have the same problem and they've gotten past it. Just curious and would love to have some more background info about the program and our past history.

I'm sure if you asked him about that he would say he is better than the rest. They all have that mentality, until they get there and reality can hitfiremoose wrote:Yeah, he and the 28 other DB's should have fun this year. And they've already offered 17 for 2015. Re: Recruiting, 2014
The NLI is officially in for DB/ATH Jordan Noil (6′ 3″ 180) of Norcross High School in Norcross, GA. He’s a Mountaineer!!!
They are saying the signing class is now complete. 22 today and 27 overall. Saving a couple just in case or for next year. We'll also have a few PWO's coming in and I'll update as soon as I get info on them.
I'm in the process of updating the Main Page and all the player pages, including checking for new highlight for those players who committed early. It'll take a little while to finish but check in and see our new class.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Thanks again for another great year Moose.
Excited about Noil. Great size. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if we transition some of these WRs we have into DBs somewhere down the road.
It's tough to really utilize more than 5 different guys, and we already have established WRs in Jones and McElfresh. Some of these guys could make KILLER DBs.

Interestingly, the official site lists Noil at WR. I agree some of the guys could project at different positions. But also note that we signed 5 DBs as well, not including Noil.SayYesToTheRock wrote:Thanks again for another great year Moose.

I am really excited about this class. Each year I have 5 or 6 guys that I really feel like will be impact players for us, but this year there are like 15.

I mentioned this to asucrutch already, but it seems like maybe we were able to snag him because we planned to use him as a WR.EastHallApp wrote:Interestingly, the official site lists Noil at WR. Re: Recruiting, 2014
We currently have the #3 ranked class in the Sunbelt behind ASU and Georgia Southern is #1. Overall we have the 92nd best ranked class in the nation. I know these rankings are all subjective but not bad for a rookie in FBS. The source I pulled that from was 247sports.com

This has been fun. Thanks to firemoose. Also our coaches have made us proud.
I have looked at every players video. I think Mykelti Armstrong maybe the class sleeper. Looks like he should have been rated higher then no stars to me. Any thoughts

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Well if so, think of it this way: We knew we wanted another big receiver. Instead of Eaton, who we were battling Temple and Arkansas St. for, we get Noil, who was previously committed to Maryland. Maybe not such a bad trade.asknoquarter21 wrote: I mentioned this to asucrutch already, but it seems like maybe we were able to snag him because we planned to use him as a WR.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
One question I have, "Where is the size on the offensive line?"
Don't get me wrong, I like all the players we landed but our OL recruits range in size from 265-295 lbs. We are going to have to get much bigger to compete in FBS. I noticed even GSA has numerous OL from 315-360 lbs range.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
He'll get rated, along with Moore at least. 24/7 just hasn't gotten around to it yet but John and Mike have asked the national people to look at them. The Ball State offer and our offer alone should make him a high 2 star, if not a low three, based on what we see. Remember Ga Sou has 3 stars that their only offer is from them.dlh71 wrote:This has been fun. Thanks to firemoose. Also our coaches have made us proud.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Several of our guys are bigger than those numbers suggest. They were taken at the start of their senior season in High School. Are they as big as some of the Ga Sou guys? No. But ask yourself the same question that I just put above. If those 6' 6" 350 guys were so good then why was their only offer from Ga Sou. Their staff did a great job playing catch up but in doing so it appears they threw offers out everywhere. It will be interesting to watch and see how many of them make it to the roster or through the first year of school. Normally there is a reason that a recruit with BCS size doesn't have any offers. I personally haven't watched any film on their players as I've had enough to do here but I plan on doing so in order to judge for myself and it's an interesting study to watch. We'll just have to wait and see.AtlAppMan wrote:One question I have, "Where is the size on the offensive line?"

Re: Recruiting, 2014
My question with the rating system is how do they come up with the evaluations? Do they pull full game tape, or are they looking at highlight videos? Basketball recruiting to me is a lot easier to evaluate because of how often you can see these kids play. To me I want to see the kids worst plays along with their best plays to know if weaknesses are things that are fixable or not.firemoose wrote:He'll get rated, along with Moore at least. 24/7 just hasn't gotten around to it yet but John and Mike have asked the national people to look at them. Obviously if they have a lot of offers from national powers they are probably a good prospect, but who is to say Junior Sigalo isn't as good or better than Kiante Walton, because from highlight tapes I am not so sure. Full disclosure I think Walton is a great player, but I LOVE the instincts and angles from Sigalo.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Just wanted to let everyone know I've updated the Main Page to show all the players we signed and also opened each of their player pages and updated what I could with the latest information I could find. I also added new video for the players we've had committed the longest. Just want to give a final congrats to the Coaching staff on a great job signing 27 scholarship players and on fighting the Big 10 for two of them. Great Job Guys and to everyone involved!!!!!
it's time for a break.
