Wichita State

Unread post by wncapp78 » Tue Feb 25, 2014 9:44 pm

So Wichita State is #2 and going for 30-0 start and a coming off a Final Four last year. We beat them on their home court just a few short years ago in a Bracket Buster game. Not sure exactly the point except to share my sadness on how far we've fallen.

I think I can sum it up w/o beating the dead horse too many times. Image

* Failure to recruit a legitimate D-I PG to replace DJ Thompson
* Failure to recruit a legitimate D-I scoring power forward to replace Donte Minter
* Failure to hire and retain an experienced head basketball coach when Houston's contract was bought out
* Failure to hire an experienced head coach when Robert Peterson buzzed out of town over a weekend
* Failure to recognize/allocate the resources required to build/maintain a respected basketball
program
* Exercising the unmitigated gall to go bargain-basement shopping for men's basketball leadership on the part of a guy who has been overheard to say that you get what you pay for. Well, he got that much right!
And letting a money bag dictate who should be hired. That's as bad as letting the fans pick your starting quarterback.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

CC had to be somewhat sold on him to have done this to us.
Come to Boone Lutz, you may be our only hope.

Just one disagreement. Fancher brought in Donald Simms the very next year and he turned out to be an excellent replacement for DJ Thompson.

To be fair... Sims, while an excellent player, was not a D1 caliber PG. He was definitely a D1 caliber 2 guard though.
