Chad Dollar at GaTech also fits the Cobb template. Experience from WCU to EKU to LSU to Arkansas State to Murray State to Wichita State to GaTech. That's directly in and around the SunBelt.

VMI just knocked off Ohio 92 to 90. They are now headed to the CIT semi-finals.

Duggar Baucom is making himself look good right now.

It's interesting to look at the CIT quarterfinal teams. In particular, Towson is 25-10 this year. Two years ago, Towson ended a 41 game losing streak on their way to a 1-31 record. Shows how quickly fortunes can change in college basketball.

Two time ACC coach of the year at Clemson, two time SEC coach of the year at Auburn and just took Coastal to the dance. Also was National coach of the ear in 1999 at Auburn. I wish. Doubt we could afford him?

Ellis is pushing 70. He needs to ride it out where he is. We can afford anything Coastal can afford; we just don't need to start a Medicare clinic at HCC.

Can imagine CC's head getting so red it explodes like a tomato.
Would be worth seeing.
Doubt Lattener would take the job, and some don't like him
but he is the only player to start in four final four's ever.
Not that that has a lot to do with coaching, but could be
a good recruiter.
With people here thinking CC is arrogant, it's probably best to keep Laettner away.
Good one --- I will say that I never had a problem with Laettner's arrogance because he always delivered !!!
Interesting comments from former Dukie, Grant Hill... . I disagree with him, though. I don't think people hated Laettner and Hurley because of their skin color. I think people hated them because they were smug, arrogant pricks from the northeast...no wonder they fit in nicely at Duke.
And, no, I am not a tar hole fan, or a fan of any other school in the ACC.

UNCW just hired Kevin Keatts, assistant at Louisville. If he doesn't keep the staff, we should make a play to get Bidenbach as an associate head coach.

Agreed! That would be a strong move; and a popular one with me. EddieB is a good position coach and a good guy. Would make the staff stronger. He played for the legendary Everette Case and Press Maravich and coached under Norm Sloan. That's a pretty good pedigree.

Have a couple of friends who knows the Bidenbach's. Both say they moved to Wilmington to retire (he is 68) and Eddie took the UNCW job for something to do. He was not interested in the head coaching job and highly doubtful he can be persuaded leave the coast at this point in his life.

Eddie's a good guy and a good coach--but he 'd be a patient at the Medicare clinic you said you didn't want at HCC.

Coastal Carolina and UNCW can land good coaches for their staff looking to retire in the area. Boone is a retirement area why can't we seem to do the same?

Forgot about how Lutz ended his tenure at UNCC:. Four years left on contract probably means they were still subsidizing part of his salary as an assisthttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4996808ant at Iowa St. and NC State? Anyone have insight into how buyout was negotiated at UNCC?

I said I didn't want Cliff Ellis as our head coach at that age. I could see either Ellis or Biedenbach as assoc. head coach. There's a huge difference between the head coach and the lead assistant.

For the record, I doubt either will occur.

Not too many of the older generation, comparatively, want to retire in an area which occasionally has the wind chill factor reach nearly 40 below and have to own a four wheel drive vehicle to get anywhere during a large part of the winter.

I'm guessing you've never been to Hounds Ears or Beech Mountain then. Nothing but old people. My great uncle retire to Beech. He's old.

Yes, I have been to Hounds Ears and Beech Mountain, but they are the exception to the rule; as I said, "comparatively." Again, COMPARATIVELY. Ever hear of Florida?
Sarcasm intended, as you have frequently used sarcasm directed at me over the years....... ;)

I'd say the retiree numbers in the High Country compared to the Wilmington area are proportional to each area's overall population.

Don't forget Linville and Grandfather Golf. Or the town of Blowing Rock.

Lutz had his best years in CUSA (135-83 OA, 70-42 C) and struggled once he got into the A-10 (83-75 OA, 41-39 C). His 09-10 (last) team was supposed to be his best and they flopped to 9-7 Conference record and a 5th place finish. A overall record of 218-158 isn't exactly terrible so you wonder why UNCC fired him with 3 years left on his contract.
