I don't think a comparison can even be made until jones has at least 4 years under his belt. We'll see how many of his guys get drafted. And FYI, pollard heavily recruited the dirtbags. Nc top showcase organization.App91 wrote:May be, but he is making better strides with the summer league/showcase/travel ball coaches better than Pollard did. This I know. Think that will help in the long run as these people do alot of recruiting themselvesWataugaMan wrote:"Until jones can match and surpass that, he is not a better recruiter than pollard."
I have heard that Jones has gotten himself on the bad side of a few in-state high school coaches. Mending a few fences in that area might be a good start.

Re: Davidson, Game 3
I definitely agree that it will be several years before a comparison can be made. The true test of Jones and his staff will be how they can develop the kids they sign and it is just too early to tell with only one class of his recruits.
However, from a pure talent standpoint, it is worth noting that two guys he signed in his first class were drafted right out of high school and one wound up coming to Boone. Matt Brill turned down six figures from the Mets to come to App and two other signees (Harwood, Bauk) were rated among the top 25 prospects in NC.
He came to ASU with a strong track record of recruiting from his time as recruiting coordinator at NCSU and OK State. Whether he is able to translate that into long-term success as a head coach remains to be seen but I don't think the talent level will be dropping off under Jones.

Thus far his head coach experience has produced a marginal Southern Conference team, at best. Going forward into the Sun Belt Conference will require much better results from these top notch recruits.Mike Holloway wrote:He came to ASU with a strong track record of recruiting from his time as recruiting coordinator at NCSU and OK State. With today's loss App State drops to 9-10 in the conference, UNCG's wins puts them at 8-9. So, at the moment based on percentages we are in still in 6th place.

The game was over after the first inning. Football on the other had would produce the opposite result.bcoach wrote:10-20 ? Did I fall asleep and wake up in football season?WataugaMan wrote:Lost again today to west carolina, 10 - 20. It was 9 - zip, western, after one inning of play.

Hahaha! At least it wasn't as frustrating as Friday's game, where we took the lead and left a noticibly tiring pitcher in too long...again.

He was talking to his pitcher on the mound and the ump told him to leave and he took exception. After the ejection he got his money's worth for what felt like 10 minutes.Gonzo wrote:So Jones got ejected? Anyone see what happened?
Per SoCon rules he's suspended for Friday's game at Samford.

Re: Davidson, Game 3
He had argued balls and strikes earlier and got a warning. In my opinion, he had already decided that he was gonna get ejected when he went to pull springs, before he had walked out there. So he knew he was gonna pull springs. But basically had a mound conference for so long, that the home plate ump had to go break up the visit. When he got out there, jones really told him how he felt about the strike zone. Jones had it all planned out before he went out there. He used the situation of pulling springs as a chance to jump the home plate ump... And get tossed. He wanted to get tossedGonzo wrote:So Jones got ejected? Anyone see what happened?

Lol. Jones got his money's worth. He went belly to belly with the guy. Other ump had to come break it up. Billy didn't stop there.Gonzo wrote:Blackandgold wrote:He had argued balls and strikes earlier and got a warning. If you're going to get tossed, you might as well get your money's worth, that's for sure.
