Samford
I'm just a little more than worried about how the team will respond for the next game. Which defense will show up? How long before the offense starts rolling? Will the small stadium atmosphere put our guys asleep? Samford rolled the Citadel who rolled us. They got smashed by GS. I've got more questions then answers. Feel free to fire away.

Re: Samford
what worries me most is the last 3 SC games, we have not matched the intensity of the other team in the first quater. We are everyones "superbowl', they cant wait to play us, and it shows in the first quater. In the Elon game we were lucky to not be 21 early. I don't think there is a SC defense that can shut us down, just too many weapons, and every game Saterfield gets alittle more confident in his playcalling. It looks like the pattern is to jump on us early, get a big lead, than hang on. As far as our defense, I wish Jones would get more creative, aggressive, and make game adjustments when things aren't working, unfortunately, he is reluctant to do that.

Re: Samford
Sammy, like App is a pretty well balanced team with good rushing and passing attacks. Their defense has also (like us) been pretty good at ballhawking and producing turnovers. This should be a pretty good matchup and App better have more intensity than they have demonstrated lately in the first quarter to avoid having to play from behind.

Re: Samford
This is a very dangerous upcoming game. An upset waiting to happen. If we continue to play poorly in the first quarter and play from behind, I'm only afraid we will not be able to come back on Sammy. They ARE one of the top tier SC teams and we will need to bring our A game to win.
Re: Samford
It is definitely going to be interesting...
By the way, does anyone know how to view a live stream of this game? Do we have to purchase the game from Samford's athletic website?

Samford uses Sidearm for the streaming. Though it may be free. I just made an account for free.Histor3 wrote:It is definitely going to be interesting...

Re: Samford
I hope the team is prepared for the culture shock of playing in a HS stadium in relative silence. I really think that almost did us in our first trip there. It was the flattest I had seen us come out at that time. Sadly, since then, I've seen worse. Sammy has a good, tough team and I expect a tough fight.

Re: Samford
I think other teams game plans at the Rock include trying to get on top early to try and take the crowd out of the game. We have to find a way to prevent this. To me we then spend the early part of the game being reactionary rather than taking our game to them.moehler wrote:what worries me most is the last 3 SC games, we have not matched the intensity of the other team in the first quater. Re: Samford
I agree Longrifle. App comes out flat quite often and part of it is being vanilla on both offense and defense and reacting to the other team. As the game goes on App opens up both offense and defense and the results are much better. App needs to hit the field running against Sammy and not be too predictable. These teams are very similar and the one that has the most energy early on will likely win.Longrifle28 wrote:I think other teams game plans at the Rock include trying to get on top early to try and take the crowd out of the game. Re: Samford
Free streaming. The feed isn't high res, but it is okay as streaming video goes. The SU radio feed is used for the broadcast, and the broadcast team, compared to most that I've heard around the SoCon, is excellent. Live stats are also available. How many do you guys think will travel to the game? It is our HC so, although the attendance won't approach App home games, it should still be a very good game day atmosphere. Attendance was down, even by our standards, because school was out that weekend. This week our "high school" stadium will be packed. BTW, our stadium is small time, but our campus is big time beautiful - by far the best looking campus in the SoCon, so no matter what the stadium looks like, you won't mistake our university for a high school, or for that matter for a "directionally challenged" college.Histor3 wrote:It is definitely going to be interesting...

Our team really responded to the GSU debacle, and put out our best game yet. We kicked Cit's butts sideways, even worse than the score showed. We are looking to rock the SoCon Saturday, so it should be a great game to watch! Our board is small compared to yours, but we are dedicated to SU sports and are discussing the game. Feel free to come by and check out the discussions. http://www.samfordbulldogs.com/viewforu ... 1204bb833d
Re: Samford
I've been to Samford's campus. It's not the best looking in the SoCon. App's is. And, Furman's is a close 2nd.Big_Dog1968 wrote:BTW, our stadium is small time, but our campus is big time beautiful - by far the best looking campus in the SoCon, so no matter what the stadium looks like, you won't mistake our university for a high school, or for that matter for a "directionally challenged" college.
But, you do have a good football team. You're well coached, and you play hard.
