It won't be up to us to decide. The contracts are written so that all Southern Miss has to do to void the deal is pay us a predetermined amount of money. Re: Southern Miss Game
Would you take 5 home games if it meant we played on the road at a NCSU, Wake Forest, ECU or UNC in 2015 and it was the front end of a Home and Home deal such that they would return the trip to Boone in '16, '17 or '18? I would sacrifice a 6th home game if we could get one of them on the hook to come up 421. I can't wait for this to happen. My thoughts are from a business/marketing side season tickets and mini-packs will sell at a significantly higher pace than they currently are as soon as schools of the like start showing up on our home slate. As TDogg posted there are a number of Schools / P5 schools looking for games and it is getting late. Use any leverage we can find to get them on the schedule.App91 wrote:
Sorry, but this is really an easy answer and it comes down to dollars. We simply must have that 6th home game to balance the athletic budget. The only other option is another large guarantee game in its place. We cannot sign a home and home with anyone with this date being the away game. Like it or not, that is cold hard reality.
Re: Southern Miss Game
Wonder if UMass could arrange to play in Boone for a first of a home and home.
They will need a home game in 2016 since they will not be in the MAC after 2015.

Re: Southern Miss Game
This is similar to what I was thinking. I'd rather give up a home game verses an FCS team if we can land a large payday with a P5 close to home. Obviously we can't take a small payout if we are going to give up ticket sales.AppDawg wrote:Would you take 5 home games if it meant we played on the road at a NCSU, Wake Forest, ECU or UNC in 2015 and it was the front end of a Home and Home deal such that they would return the trip to Boone in '16, '17 or '18? Thanks, did not know that. Well, hope it's a nice buyout figure then, because I'm sure whatever it is is a fraction of what they'd get from Bama.AppGrad78 wrote:It won't be up to us to decide. Re: Southern Miss Game
I wouldn't accept a buyout at all, make Southern Miss come in 2016 instead and perhaps another year as well; that would give App six FBS home games in 2016. For 2015 get an FBS in Boone for the first game of a home and home - if it has to be Charlotte, so be it.

Re: Southern Miss Game
Oh, the idea is great, but the fact is that you have to come up with about $600k+ to float the Athletic budget for a year for that to happen. I you wish to provide a no intrest loan for that amount, then I am sure CC would get right on this.AppDawg wrote:Would you take 5 home games if it meant we played on the road at a NCSU, Wake Forest, ECU or UNC in 2015 and it was the front end of a Home and Home deal such that they would return the trip to Boone in '16, '17 or '18? Look all of us would love to see these home games but we cannot drop down to 5 because these home games pay the bills for the ENTIRE Athletic program. It is not about want, it is about have to.

What about this as an option?
Home & Home with a FBS team where our Home game is at Bank of America Stadium and theirs is at their place.

Re: Southern Miss Game
I think that is a reasonable option depending on the FBS team TBD. I am assuming that you are speaking of a one time fix to a scheduling issue that is out of our hands. A few things that need to be considered with said option is (1) the cost to rent out BOA. (2) By moving a home game to a neutral site you start setting a precedent for future scheduling. If you book a home game in Charlotte with say ECU then I think that might reduce the chances of ever getting them or one of the Big 4 up the mountain. (3) Another aspect that we need to consider with sch a move is the economic hit to the Boone businesses that stand to gain fromgamedays. If we start moving home games out of town, what might that do to the local support.Boone Goon wrote:What about this as an option?

Someone with the handle "Boone Goon" wants an App home game played in... Charlotte? In a boring NFL stadium?Boone Goon wrote:What about this as an option?

I know that "opinions" are not facts but in this case, that idea sucks.
Football in Boone at KBS on Saturday > Football in Charlotte. Period.

Re: Southern Miss Game
Good idea, but here is the problem. Using ECU for example. We play ECU in Greenville. 50,000 people there to eat, buy beer, going to the bars and staying in the hotel. Lots of $$$$ for Greenville.Boone Goon wrote:What about this as an option?

We play our home game in Charlotte. 50,000 people there and Charlotte gets the $$$. The town of Boone gets nothing.
Great idea, but the town of Boone gets screwed in that deal.

Re: Southern Miss Game
I would certainly prefer a home game vs. Southern Miss to a game in CLT, but with little more than 12 months to the start of the 2015 season, we're in a tough spot. If Alabama is having trouble finding a home game I think we have to be honest with ourselves that getting a FBS game in KBS is going to be difficult. We're going to have to come up with a creative solution. Maybe someone would agree to a 2-for-1 deal.
The question comes down to whether you want a FCS team in Boone or a FBS game in North Carolina? I could live with a game at Wake Forest and 5 home games over a FCS team at the Rock.

Hate the idea. That scenario all but acknowledges our subordination to what ever school we ended up playing. We should NEVER agree to such an arrangement unless it's an ACC or SEC opponent.
Re: Southern Miss Game
Our small stadium makes it hard to get a home and home with many schools.

Re: Southern Miss Game
Has anyone previously posted the "average" total income from a home game?
football specific - ticket sales, concessions, merchandise, etc.
Boone area specific - lodging, food, purchases, gas, attractions, buying supplies for those with kids at APP, etc.

Seems to me that when people throw out scenarios for games they forget one of the main items is that we have to make money to fund the dept. I would love all these games but we have an Athletic budget to build.WVAPPeer wrote:Has anyone previously posted the "average" total income from a home game?
