sadly, you are probably right, they will try to be the voice of reason, but ultimately, the bamas, and Ohio States will bully them into submission. Ultimately, they will be given a choice, shut up, do as we tell you, and you will get a huge paycheck, or get the @#$# out. Just cant see how this is good for the overall health of collage athletics, but then again, they have never pretended to give a dam about anyone but themselves, so this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

There is almost zero chance that the P5 conferences will pull out and form a division that won't play G5 teams. Who are 2/3th of the P5 teams going to play that they can win against if not the G5 teams? Not that they win all the time against G5 teams but they have a better chance. If this happens and the SEC gets even more powerful what will the other conference in the P5 do? How long will the ACC for instance stand being the 4th - 5th ranked conference in the P5.

I think over half the P5 teams needs the G5 teams (and to a less degree FCS teams) just to keep from being on the bottom of the heap.

There really isn't much more milk in this cow. At some point it will cease to be college football and they are going to alienate the students and fan base. How much more "autonomy" do they need?

The problem is that the half who need the G5 don't have the guts to stand up to the half who are actually making the decisions. Kentucky and Indiana and Wake Forest and the like are going to support Alabama and Texas and Ohio State and the like because, ultimately, the money is going to be more important to them than the chance to win.
