Solar Decathlon Europe
App State and The University of Angers in France have teamed up for the 2014 Solar Decathlon Europe on the famous palace grounds of Versailles. The building ends tomorrow and the competition begins on Saturday. I wrote a primer for the front page.

Univ of Angers.
What are courses like there?
Frustration 1010
Pised-off 2200
Blowing a Gasket - Graduate level obviously
Electives consist of
Survey of Passive-Aggressive thought: Middle-ages to Modern Times
Smar-ass retorts in the post-Modern Era

Re: Solar Decathlon Europe
Funny tidbit from Solar D's past:
As T-Dog mentioned, Appalachian placed third in the Architecture category in 2011 (out of 13 schools), which is really respectable considering we're not even an accredited architecture school. UNCC meanwhile competed a year or so after us and placed 8th in Architecture, even though they actually have a school of Architecture.

Good luck guys. The solar decathlon is a very cool event. I was living in DC when App was in and I really liked the solar homestead.

Re: Solar Decathlon Europe
Looks like we are currently in third place, running very close with the second place team.

Re: Solar Decathlon Europe
I actually just got back from a one month study abroad program at the university of Angers and it's funny that you say that because I used to joke about the same thing but it is actually pronounced differently because of the French language. It's kind of pronounced like an•jea. Pretty cool town though about two hours south of Paris.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Univ of Angers.

I knew the r would be silent, about every French ending is silent, but still, I thought a funny point to make. At least someone got it.High Country Student wrote:I actually just got back from a one month study abroad program at the university of Angers and it's funny that you say that because I used to joke about the same thing but it is actually pronounced differently because of the French language. Re: Solar Decathlon Europe
My daughter is making her way home from a study abroad taking the long way through Europe. She ran into some of the Solar Decathlon kids in Paris last night. She was pretty psyched because she knew one of them from a Chem class. Go all the way to Paris and see App State folks. Pretty small world really.
