My sources say if SS loses anywhere between zero and twelve games he'll be back.

Rumor has it that if we don't win 10 next season, Shawn Elliot will be brought in. I have that on authority from a higher up in the athletic department.
Give 'em hell!

My last post was kind of a guilty pleasure. It was amusing, but also sort of mean. I thought I'd come back to say I agree with AS2014 that 2015 is the key year, and I will be disappointed if we don't win at least 7 then. Not necessarily "Satt must go" disappointed, but still, disappointed.
Oh, what the hell...
Oh, what the hell...
Look, guys, who said anything about firing Satterfield after THIS season? I mean, where is this even coming from? All AS2014 has been saying is that if SS has a losing season this year AND next year AND the year after, then Cobb is definitely firing him.AppState2014 wrote: I'm just saying that there is no way Charlie Cobb is going to go through 3 or 4 straight losing seasons for anyone.

Satt will be gone if they lose to Michigan.
(I've been waiting on that one)
Cobb will then hire Dennis Wagner..............

Uh 2014 said a few things about firing him after this year if wins aren't up to what he seems reasonable. Of course he would be fired after 3 or 4 losing seasons, that's pretty much the standard but that's not what hombre stated over and overEastHallApp wrote:My last post was kind of a guilty pleasure. All I'm saying is that Cobb feels pressure from heavy donors that the football program will improve and not be a below .500 team or else he will make changes. Whether fair or not App expects to win and anyone on here who thinks that 2-10 and 4-8 the next two years is acceptable or will allow any coach to keep their job is crazy.EastHallApp wrote:My last post was kind of a guilty pleasure. I'm pulling for Scott, as I said. I wasn't trying to break news but just simply point out that we have to show that we won't be the VMI of the Sun Belt because nobody is going to put up with it. We don't need to be too hard on him but we have the resources and tools to be successful. App did not move up to accept 3 losing seasons in a row, at any point in our FBS lifetime.
I saw someone mentioned Shawn Elliott. I don't think he will ever be our head coach, unless Charlie was willing to pay double what he makes now, or more. He's from Camden and always wanted to be a Gamecock. Columbia area is home for him, not Boone. He loves App because he went there but he would be crazy to give up what he has now. Any talk of him coming back to Boone is strictly rumors by fans and I don't see any talks between him and Cobb going on. Shawn has probably told Charlie what it would take and a deal either comes very quickly because Charlie is willing to pay it or they just never talk because Charlie can't pay it. We all know Spurrier calls the plays in Columbia and as long as he is there Shawn has 100% job security.

I would hope we've learned our lesson from listening to "big" donors after Capel.
I have no doubt that donors have expressed an interest to be successful at the FBS level in the coming years, however to stretch that into go .500 or you are out after 2014 is asinine.
Scott will be here in 2015, stop the insanity rumormonger.

I sure can't see it happening, but if Shawn does not produce he would be gone. Where do you get your ideas? I agree 99% of the time. I just don't see how could they justify firing him or Spurrier unless there is a big scandal? He took them from 0-11 to a perennial top 10 team. He's got job security because of Spurrier.bcoach wrote:I sure can't see it happening, but if Shawn does not produce he would be gone. Where do you get your ideas? I am one who hopes Scott has at least 3 more years for sure but any coach who has back to back losing seasons, no matter the circumstances, is going to have a hard time keeping their job at a program like Alabama, App, Georgia Southern, etc. when they are use to winning.
Let's just hope this argument doesn't matter because we win 5 or more games and the team is in position to be bowl bound in 2015. If you look at our roster there is no reason why we can't hope for 8 or more wins in 2015, depending on the schedule.

For me, I just hope that, barring a scandal, that Coach Satterfield is given the entire length of his current contract before his W-L record has anything to do with his retention.
Despite last year's record, Coach seems to be the brightest young star we have seen in decades.

Re: The Sun Belt Teams Coming to Boone 2014/15
You really just used App Bama and GAS in the same comparison? You instantly lose any of the small amount of credit you may have had left. You're throwing out these stupid scenarios which have no basis. Stop. And I don't know how you're speculating on 2015s roster and how great it looks when we only have 1 or 2 classes of FBS recruits. You're getting way too far ahead of yourself and it's a little ridiculous champAppState2014 wrote:I agree 99% of the time. Re: The Sun Belt Teams Coming to Boone 2014/15
"Heavy Donors Pressure Schools AD". What a great headline and what an utterly statement. Every AD fees pressure from all their donor base to produce. Ours is no exception. Of course they have influence and if I'm an AD I will pander to the $10,000 giver quicker than the $100 one. Having said that, these unnamed donors that run App are a mirage. One donor convinced ASU to hire Capel and that had to have the approval of the BOT. CC was the middle man in that deal. People that make up stuff or spread unsubstantiated rumors need to go on over to AppFan or NinerNation. I'm neutral about CC and will wait until his contract expires in 2016 to voice my opinion. I'll focus on a great recruiting class a Sophomore coaching staff, a new and exciting basketball coach and a move to a new and tougher conference.

I believe if there were rumors in the department, Fire would be the first to know. Just quit with the Satt being fired crap. He isn't going anywhere.

Coach Satterfield isn't going anywhere, he will have us on top of the Sun Belt in the near future. Yes, write that down.

No coach is guaranteed anything no matter what he did in the past. Not the old ball coach and not Scott. With that said talk of Scott getting fired at this point is just mindless banter. If that is all you can think of to talk about then get a hobby or better yet a job and give the money to ASU.

I supposedly had breakfast with CC this morning and he allegedly told me that if we don't win at least 5 games this year, we all get our season ticket money back. If we don't win at least 3 games, we all get Vizio 32 inch flat screens, and if we don't beat LIBERTY , he will resign himself and leave it up to the new AD what happens to Coach Satt.

Re: The Sun Belt Teams Coming to Boone 2014/15
What a ridiculous post. Of course if Scott has 3-4 losing seasons he will be on the hot seat. That's not groundbreaking at all.AppState2014 wrote:Nobody. I just brought it up as an example. I certainly hope it doesn't happen and I don't think it will.ASUMountaineer wrote:No need to jump around, who said anything about 3-4 straight losing seasons? Don't change up the stance now.AppState2014 wrote:ASUMountaineer wrote:Not true at all. I'm one of those who loves what Scott has done so far, outside of the bad record last year. This will be the toughest schedule ever simply because it has Michigan and the top 3 or 4 in the Sun Belt are pretty good but our 4 or 5 worst opponents match a normal year for us. Any fan who is 100% behind a coach who has three or four straight losing seasons at App State though is just seeing things with black and gold colored glasses. I'm in the middle of both because I'm pulling for Scott but I don't care who the coach is, I just want to win and prove to haters in FCS that we are not going to be a bottom dweller with this move up.AppState2014 wrote:
Coach Satt has one year under his belt, and has yet to have a season where he can coach for a postseason. His first season was a transition year coaching the previous coach's players, and his second year will be a transition year with the toughest schedule--maybe ever. No other App State coach has had to follow a legend while moving up in classification--different situations call for different actions. Of course, I see that you will discredit anything positive Coach Satt has done in his one year as a HC, so there's not much of a reason for discussion here.
I know this is a different situation but you know there are money donors who will not tolerate a 1 or 2 win season. Like I said, I know this will be a tough season but the future looks good and I don't expect all this debate will matter because he will win 4 or 5 games.
My point entirely is that our administration isn't going to put up with losing and our fans won't either. We are getting better players and there is no reason why we shouldn't or couldn't at least be competitive and in the top 4-5 of the Sun Belt standings by 2016. If our head coach isn't producing those results then he will find himself out of the door. I'm not projecting that to happen.
From reading this board there are some people who sound like they are against Scott no matter what and it sounds like some of you are going to stand up for him no matter what. I'm just saying that there is no way Charlie Cobb is going to go through 3 or 4 straight losing seasons for anyone. I'm pulling for Scott for sure because he is our head coach. The only way I will ever be against him is if he is coaching for one of our opponents and I hope that is never the case.
Would you like to move the red line again?
