If you could ask Coach Satt ONE question...

Unread post by BearlyDoug » Sat Jul 19, 2014 11:56 am

I'll post a thread in one of the two "General Discussions" forums (not sure which one is more appropriate here) introducing myself, however, let me just say that if you haven't already seen my name popping up on Twitter or other Sun Belt school fans sites, you might want to kinda, halfway, sorta, maybe pay attention. FYI, we (Two Cents Radio) will be up at Boone for the Georgia State game... you will need to check out our Tailgate (we're bringing a smoker with us, and will have free food and potentially some awesome free stuff), in addition to doing a live show from our tailgate spot.

I'm sure that this has been asked previously... except that I will actually take 7-10 of the best questions on here and actually ask Coach Satt these questions (amongst others) next Tuesday (before he heads into the Sun Belt Media Days festivities).

This will air next Wednesday night on Two Cents Radio (a live show), so...

Anyhoo... if you could ask Coach Satterfield just ONE question, what would it be?

You have until Monday, NOON to get your questions here. The better ones will be selected after then and asked on Tuesday AM. And yes, you will be credited for asking the question by your handle here.

Looking forward to reading your replies. :)

Was hoping to see a little more activity on this...

I need your questions in by NOON tomorrow, please. :)

Bump...Never saw this pop up. Not sure why but some at least have seen it. We need to get some questions for Coach for Two Cents Radio's interview. We're making the Cabin look bad considering how many questions and comments I see every day on here. I'll get the ball rolling.

How does Coach feel about the new direction for the S & C program and coaches?

Ask Satterfield:
Last year a lot of fans said you were reluctant to change QB's even though it was obvious
that a change was needed. Will you be so reluctant to change this year if needed.

My question:

Last year was not a typical year for App football. Do you believe the lame duck status with no postseason to play for had anything to do with that, and if so, what can the coaching staff do to avoid that same letdown this season?

What area to do you see as being the biggest improvement from last year?

What do you see as the greatest strength of the 2014 App State football team?

Will see the QB move "under Center" in short-yardage/goal-line situations???

Will the Defense be more pressure oriented or more reactive?

Last season our play calling seemed a little slow. Has the offense worked to improve that aspect of the game? Will we employ a package of "rapid fire plays" to upset the opposing team?

Will we move toward utilizing more "jet" paced offense and try to gas teams late in the game circa 2004-2008 ?

What was your biggest weakness last year as coach? What has the coaching staff done to improve in the offseason?

Can App implement a "moonshine" package on offense, defense or special teams?

According to recruiting sites like Rivals and 247Sports, App State did not have a hard time winning recruits from other Sun Belt schools even with a 4-8 record. What do you attribute that to THE MOST? Coaches, facilities, promise of playing time, App State tradition?

What did you learn about being a head coach last year?

(These questions are not to pick on Satt but I think are important to know.....)
What have you communicated to the players about keeping their noses clean and out of trouble?
Have you or anyone discussed the issue of sexual assaults with the team?
What is your discipline policy?

The majority of our losses last year came down to a few plays at the end of the game. Is there any new strategy or peptalk you plan to employ in order to change those outcomes this season?

1. Did you struggle last year with the adjustment of calling plays at field level vs. from the booth? How are offensive playcalling responsibilities handled between you and the coordinators?

2. Considering the move up in competition level, how much do you focus on recruiting for positional need vs. taking the best available talent regardless of position?
