RS Fr Lee Wright Dismissed
RS Freshmen LB Lee Wright has been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules. He was projected to see a lot of playing time at outside LB this season. We'll see what comes out about this in the coming days but it is very disappointing as I expected him to have a good year.

Not on this one. He's got both Misdemeanor and Felony charges in the public record involving motor vehicle, alcohol, and marijuana charges, with at least one possession charge. Everyone is due their day in court but as Rek said Coach isn't messing around.

Choosing weed over football smh
Regardless of whether it should be legal or not, thats another debate, it is currently illegal and in their situation you have to make a choice as to what is more important

I agree with you both. I really hope he uses this as a wake up call and gets it together. Only two ways to go now. Either straighten it up and move forward or keep on a bad path. Hope he decides on the first option.mtnjax wrote:Choosing weed over football smh

One way he is a very lucky man, if he was driving while high, he could have really hurt or even killed someone and then he would have faced some serious prison time. I'm sure at this moment he is not feeling lucky, but he is.

Re: RS Fr Lee Wright Dismissed
Disappointing, but at least it's at a spot where we've got a little depth.
Was this his first offense? Wonder if he might get a chance to earn his way back. Don't know the details, but I have to think if Gray got a second chance, then maybe Wright will.
If not, one more spot for a 2015 recruit.

Saint, I'm here and very disappointed. I don't know the details other than what was written by Steve Behr in the Democrat. Lee would have been a big contributor at outside backer but when you're 20 years old and 2 years out of high school you're old enough to make good decisions and avoid the bad ones.
When the mind is weak the body will suffer. I also hope he'll get it together and be successful; he's a quality young man who made a bad decision.

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Hope it was good weed, Lee.... actually, no I don't.
I never wish ill on anyone. Especially a 19 year old... but my goodness.

I smoked my share back in the day, but the fascination with it today just boggles my mind. Oh well...

Re: RS Fr Lee Wright Dismissed
The info is public and available on the NC Court System home page and will be in the High Country Press next week. I haven't posted the actual charges listed but the breakdown is:
2 Infractions-Motor Vehicle
1 Traffic Charge & 1 Traffic Result (consequence of another charge)
3 Misdemeanor Charges
2 Felony Charges
If this is his first offense they will probably plead the felony charges down. Based on my LEO experiences he'll most likely get probation, fines, and community service. Unlike Gray and even Price these aren't person on person charges but charges based on driving and what he had on him and what was found with him. The felony charges are likely what got him dismissed instead of a suspension. Really hope he makes the correct choices moving forward and decides to learn from this. We'll see where it goes from here.

Re: RS Fr Lee Wright Dismissed
It's quite amazing that this lesson would even need to be learned the hard way by a 20 year old. I assume anyone with a decent dose of common sense could easily avoid all of those charges. Sad. Lee Wright is very talented.firemoose wrote:The info is public and available on the NC Court System home page and will be in the High Country Press next week. Re: RS Fr Lee Wright Dismissed
All one has to do is read the NCAA football headlines on ESPN.com (or like sites) and there are numerous suspensions, dismissals, criminal charges, etc., listed daily and I'm sure there are many more which aren't listed - I don't know if these athletes are getting into more trouble than in years before or if it is a result of so much social media and information now that there is no way to "sweep it under the rug" as was done so much in the past (not speaking APP State here) ?APPARJ wrote:It's quite amazing that this lesson would even need to be learned the hard way by a 20 year old. that is a great point, with social media, the old ways of Universities, of just keeping everything hush, and maybe even sweeping infractions under the rug are done.
