Look, if John Settle's #23 is retired, Armanti Edwards MUST have #14 retired.YesAppCan wrote:I don't agree. Armanti should have had his jersey put up in some sort of ring of honor if you will but I don't agree about never using the number again--- What if football at Appalachian were to continue for the next 10,000 years? Think we might run out of numbers? Just a thought--- though I know where your intent is and I understand.
Agreed but think of what that says about the reverence to the once in a generation player like Armanti. He was so good we HAD to retire the number.YesAppCan wrote:No disputing that. I just don't like the idea of eliminating numbers from EVER being used again... Retire the jersey, if you will, not the #.
I believe there has been 3 numbers retired - Armanti should make 4 and that would leave 190 possible numbers for players - I think APP would survive ---YesAppCan wrote:I don't agree. I got to ask, how do you get 190 left? Assuming a jersey is two digits at most and you have zero and double zero as different numbers (are they allowed in football) I see at most 101 unique numbers and minus the four and we are left with 97 unique numbers. If the zero's are out we are down to 95. Still plenty.WVAPPeer wrote:I believe there has been 3 numbers retired - Armanti should make 4 and that would leave 190 possible numbers for players - I think APP would survive ---YesAppCan wrote:I don't agree. My math is terrible But the reason I used that figure is that a given number can be used by 2 players as long as they aren't on the field at the same time ---McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:I got to ask, how do you get 190 left? That makes perfect sense actually and I knew you had a reason, but darned if I could think what it was.WVAPPeer wrote:My math is terrible But the reason I used that figure is that a given number can be used by 2 players as long as they aren't on the field at the same time ---McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:I got to ask, how do you get 190 left?
