Given the Lamb history I am looking forward to seeing him have some playing time. I hope to make the Campbell game. That should allow some time for the back-ups.

no surprises here, we need depth at the position, and redshirting Caruso makes sense, he looks like he has a bright future, keep hearing about the strength of his arm, and what a good athlete he is. Great to hear about Lamb having a great fall camp, started to get worried with all minor injuries that seem to slow him down, looks like he is finally healthy. He might be our 2nd string qb, but if the OL doesn't protect the qb better this year, Lamb might be playing alot more than he planned.

One thing that stood out to me during practice regarding Taylor vs. Kam is that Taylor seems to make decisions quicker and is more apt to throwing vertically.

However, I am far from a QB expert. But that's my $0.02.

However, to state that most of his passes were 4-6 dump offs to the sideline is a disservice to Kam's play at QB. His favorite targets were Peacock and Washington, their routes tended to take them down the field more than 4 yards.

I haven't crunched the numbers so I can't actually say that most of his passes were 4-6 yards. However, as someone who watched all 12 games (11 in person) I am very confident in saying that most of the passes he threw were either underneath the first down marker or to the sideline. Again, I'm not saying Kam is a bad QB by any stretch. You don't throw for 2500+ yards with 4 interceptions playing D1 ball if you're a scrub.

We need a strong vertical game to be successful, especially in the Sun Belt. Part of that dynamic includes the WRs performing up to task. However, I believe most of it falls on the QB to find opportunities down field and execute. From watching Kam last fall and this year in camp, I wonder if that's something he can do well. I genuinely hope so because I think Kam is an exemplary representative of App State football.

I think some fans mistake yards from line of scrimmage as easier passes than "vertical" passes. I would argue that many times those out patterns short of the first down markers or quick slants are more difficult throws than "long bombs". They absolutely have a higher risk, not necessarily of interception, but an interception on a quick out or quick slant and you are looking most likely at a TD going the other way --- I think we all have agreed that Kam needed to improve his deep ball threat but don't undersell his efficiency at making the "dangerous throws" ---

its tough to assess Bryant's play last year, he was hurt, and we were down to just 2 qbs. I'm sure that factored in SS game decisions to throw short quick passes to protect Bryant and just get us through, what was essentially a wasted season. I think, unfortunately, with such a young group of receivers, and an offensive line that, at best, is a work in progress, we are going to see alot more bubble screens, quick slants, and quick outs. Really worries me going into this season, a team like Michgan, with a strong secondary, are licking their chops to get at us, they are going and try to jump every route, jam us at the line, and dare us to try running past them.

I hope Lamb gets some meaningful snaps this season. No offense to Kam at all, but if we go 4-8 again you have to give Lamb some on the job training. Build for the future.

Kam is still the clear cut guy for no. 1 though.

agree, if we go, 1-4, and things don't look good for the rest of the season, I think it would be smart for SS to give Lamb a few extra reps each game, doesn't need to start him, just get him some game experience
