The familiar theme is beginning to come back into focus. No scoring punch. We either refuse to recruit foreign scorers or we're unable to get them--one or the other.
At least four straight head coaches in our program have tried to win with "homebred" strikers/forwards and every year it's a struggle to score against any competition--be it weak or strong.
It's early and a lot of attention has been given to frosh striker Austin Stamey from nearby Asheville--highly regarded nationally for his scoring ability as a prepster. Maybe he'll hit his stride soon and become a difference maker.
