Re: helmets
No matter what your opinion of the helmets, one glaring thing I took away from watching our game on DVR is that our uniforms looked 'big time.' We didn't look like some small school wearing some big-time school's practice jersey's. That's important for PR and yes, even recruiting.
GSoU, on the other hand, looked like they literally had to stop by Dick's on the way to the game and buy boy's sized, generic unis. They looked awful. At least their play was solid.

Re: helmets
I would be OK with just the White block A amd the matte helmets. Just not a big fan of the current A.

That look has certainly hurt Alabama the past 5 or 6 years...HeffnerIV wrote:No matter what your opinion of the helmets, one glaring thing I took away from watching our game on DVR is that our uniforms looked 'big time.' Re: helmets
White block A should be on the helmet and not change at all. For one throwback game or whatever you want to call it a year they can kick it old school but the white A stands out so much better than the current helmet. And while we are talking about cosmetic changes if they don't bring back the blacked out endzones when the field turf is replaced I'm gonna be pissed! hehehe

Re: helmets
Sounds like a lot of people miss the classic white block A. Maybe if the athletic & school staff here from enough people, they'll change it. That's how the old school Yosef came back. You know they want exposure and branding, and the white block A does that.
Also wish they would blacken the end zone. Maybe with block Applachian or APP STATE?

Re: helmets
The official school logo is still the white block-A. It was my understanding that the football team/equipment staff just spontaneously changed the helmet A's color last year.
I wonder how the marketing department felt about that.

Re: helmets
You're comparing Alabama abd Georgia Southern? For a program moving up in subdivisions, they're appearance didn't impress. It's like rolling into an interview with a suit from the 80's. We can argue all day about tradition but I'm not wearing a double-breasted suit to one of my few opportunities to get regional and/or national exposure.JTApps1 wrote:That look has certainly hurt Alabama the past 5 or 6 years...HeffnerIV wrote:No matter what your opinion of the helmets, one glaring thing I took away from watching our game on DVR is that our uniforms looked 'big time.' For the record, I'm very much a traditionalist. One of my favorite uni's is Penn St's, but they're an established brand, like Alabama. That's a luxury GS and App St don't have.

Agreed - and to GaSo their uniforms are tradition - as far as I can remember that is what they have worn year in - year out ---AppSt94 wrote:Part of tradition is refusing to give in to change.HeffnerIV wrote:You're comparing Alabama abd Georgia Southern? Actually watching the game on tv last week, the black A doesnt show well on tv. The white block A is way easier to notice on tv and has more pop visually

Is it wrong to like both the white and black Block A's, or must I pick a side?

Let us remember the old Michael Jackson song. After all, the man had great perspective on the matter -- as he is the only person who has been both black AND white.AppinVA wrote:I like them both, as well.ASUMountaineer wrote:Is it wrong to like both the white and black Block A's, or must I pick a side?

Re: helmets
I do as well - however I will add that with the white jersey the black one more closely matched the A on the shoulder - the gold stands out with the black one on the black matte helmetASUMountaineer wrote:Is it wrong to like both the white and black Block A's, or must I pick a side?

Re: helmets
I'm cool with certain games having alt units, just want to classic white block A back. App plasters it everywhere, but not on the most visible area, the fb helmets.

Re: helmets
I'm not comparing the programs at all, but I am saying the look of the uniform isn't JV or high school if it is good enough for a team like Bama. It is plain, but that's what they have always worn at Eastern Georgia.HeffnerIV wrote:You're comparing Alabama abd Georgia Southern? Re: helmets
Quick update after my emails. The temp AD replied back as well as someone else in the admin and agreed they like the matte helmet and will forward to request for the return to the classic white block A. Anyone that misses that, go on the Appstatesports website and email all the fb/marketing people. If they get feedback, they'll listen. Just look at how they brought back old school Yosef (who I also love, but needs to be professionally done) Looks like a middle school kid drew him
