Re: Sun Belt attendance 9/6/14
Jerry gave Charlie a game ball after the CCU home opener in 2005, thanking him for the attendance (23k that day, which was way higher than anyone thought) despite just getting smoked by a mediocre Kansas team.
Charlie and Peacock do deserve credit for the parking and tailgate policies being revamped. Just like Jerry Moore deserves a lot of credit and many to help form the perfect storm.
South Alabama should have a bigger crowd. That was the hottest ticket of the season according to the ticket office.

I never said he was given total credit.appst89 wrote:Nobody has ever said Cobb was solely responsible for the increase in attendance. The end of the Roach era was a contributing factor, as were the decisions made by Peacock and Cobb to enhance the game day experience. I'm not sure why this continues to be something you want to misrepresent. The reasons have been well documented on this board many, many times.NewApp wrote:Let's see if Charlie Cobb can get Ga. I just did. Now you're going to say that you didn't use the words 'total credit'. You go ahead and have the last word. I'm not playing these semantics games. It's clear what you meant and what you were trying to do. I won't respond to this again.NewApp wrote:Cut and paste the words where I said he was given total credit.appst89 wrote:Really?NewApp wrote: Let's see if Charlie Cobb can get Ga. I second that. I suspect most on this board would exhibit courtesy to the visiting fanbase. It's important to make courtesy an emphasis as others will see it and hopefully follow suit.YesAppCan wrote:Campbell actually brought a good amount of fans... Pretty much filled up one of the lower sections... Easily spotted wearing "humpday" orange... BTW, I hope our fan base will ALWAYS welcome our visitors and treat them well. That's the right thing to do and them being there adds $$$ to OUR pot.
I would like for App to be seen as the classiest venue for visitors in the Sun Belt. I'll do my part.

Does anyone else think we should move the visitors section to the upper deck on the east side, and then move the students sections from the deck down to the current visitors section? Imagine the atmosphere if we had students basically circling the entire field minus the Yosef sections directly behind the visitors bench!

I like it the way it is, but would have no objection (especially since we do not know how SB fans will travel).JTApps1 wrote:Does anyone else think we should move the visitors section to the upper deck on the east side, and then move the students sections from the deck down to the current visitors section? The atmosphere would be tough for opponents, but we're likely asking for trouble putting students behind the players bench.
Currently we have two sections of visitors, a section of Yosef Club members to buffer, then students in the other three sections.
If I were a visitor I'd prefer to sit away from students.

KBS is already the Cameron Indoor of football. That change would enhance the atmosphere even more.JTApps1 wrote:Does anyone else think we should move the visitors section to the upper deck on the east side, and then move the students sections from the deck down to the current visitors section? Re: Sun Belt attendance 9/6/14
I would provide what is provided us when we go other places. I guess it's kind of hard to gauge that now in the SB, but if there is some kind of standard I'd go with that. I don't want us to be known as providing visitors the worst seating in the conference (or something considered unfair), otherwise I'm fine with it.JTApps1 wrote:Does anyone else think we should move the visitors section to the upper deck on the east side, and then move the students sections from the deck down to the current visitors section? Personally I'd like to have the students (and fans) as close to the game as possible, as long as that's what we would expect others to do.

I'm not talking about moving the 3 Yosef sections behind the bench. I would simply swap the current visitors seating with the student sections in the upper deck. The visitors would be sitting next to alums upstairs.Saint3333 wrote:The atmosphere would be tough for opponents, but we're likely asking for trouble putting students behind the players bench.

Re: Sun Belt attendance 9/6/14
The only problem I see, is if a visiting team brings their cheer leaders the visiting fans would be too far away in the upper deck. Not sure where other SB teams put the visitors, but I know at Williams Brice stadium the visitors are in the lower section near the corner and the visiting cheer leaders are in front of them.

I understand that, but do we want students that close to their bench? Could be trouble.JTApps1 wrote:I'm not talking about moving the 3 Yosef sections behind the bench. Well because of the track it has been said that no one would hear them!Saint3333 wrote:I understand that, but do we want students that close to their bench? (just kidding, I just figured the track would come up so I wanted to preempt the attack)

They are just as close on the other end of the east side, and they have to walk right past students to get to/from their locker room thanks to the end zone seats.Saint3333 wrote:I understand that, but do we want students that close to their bench? Couldn't we just use the plywood solution like the gumroots?Saint3333 wrote:I understand that, but do we want students that close to their bench? Seriously, I do foresee a day where visitors get that section AND the same in the upper deck as some of the larger schools do. (I hope, anyway!)
