Official Tiny Dog Attendance Thread
Game Five of Six
Wofford @ Appalachian State
3:30 p.m. Kidd Brewer Stadium (24,050 -- Roanoke, VA)
Weather at kickoff: Sunny 54
The little Southern Conference team with a dog for a mascot. No, not them...Not them, either. Think of those dogs that fit into purses will be Appalachian's fourth home opponent this season. The Wofford Terriers venture into their house of horrors for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
This will not be a homecoming crowd, nor will it be a homecoming-sized crowd, but it should be over seated capacity. Seats do remain (a few on the West side and about 200 on the East side in the Wofford section). None of the grass sections have sold out (there are five grass/general admission "sections" and none have sold out. How many are in each grass section? I'm figuring on approximately 1,500. How will student attendance fare? Probably pretty good, as will the walk-up crowd. The temperatures are expected to be seasonal and for the first time this year, there will not be a need to take along rain gear.
Things and stuff:
* It's no surprise that Appalachian continues to lead the FCS in average attendance. So far, the Mountaineers are averaging 27,921 Camden, NC). Second place Montana is averaging 25,264 (Mt Alto, WV).
* When combined with FBS schools, Appalachian is 84th overall, in a C-USA sandwich. At 28,007 (Ansonville, NC), Memphis is 83rd, and our ROCK is outdrawing So. Mississippi's Rock. The Golden Eagles are averaging 27,656 (Raleigh, NC).
* The 2008 Wofford/ASU game still stands as the second highest single game attendance record. A then-record crowd of 30,931 (NZ) enjoyed a Nationally televised Halloween Night contest.
* Appalachian's official seated capacity has once again gone up. An additional 900 seats were added to the 1,500 temporary seats erected behind the North end zone. ASU's new seated capacity of 24,050 is 7,400 more than it was at the start of the 2005 season.
* Appalachian has drawn over seated capacity crowds for 44 consecutive regular season games.
* ASU's all-time home attendance record of 31,531 (NZ) was set on October 9, 2010 at a homecoming tilt against Elon.
Sitting At...err...Setting The Bar:
I sense that the buzz for this game was not as big as previous years, but things have picked up as game day nears. And, why not? ASU appears to be playing better, and for the first time all year, fans will not have to worry about carrying rain gear -- but they may want to take along a coat. I predict that the over-capacity run of 44 will become 45, but I'm not sure if it will be above our season average. With that in mind, I'm setting the first one at our present average of 27,921 (Camden, NC).

Re: Official Tiny Dog Attendance Thread
On the one week I did not post a guess, Elon, the attendence was my normal guess and zip code...29073, Lexington SC.
However given the buzz this game is getting here in the Palmetto State and Eric's final regular season trip to The Rock as a player, and the perfect Fall Weather, Im saying 31k...My son was in Boone today. He said the town is packed!!!
Big crowd for a big game....Cannot wait to get there!!
