Who were the 3 receivers who were open deep during the last game but were overthrown?

Bobo and Malachi were two.........dont know the third.

it was Sumler, McGuire and Lewis

One was defiantly either bobo or sims on the App sideline near the 50.......couldn't have been one of the 3 previous as there is a pigment difference.

went back and watched a highlight vid

it was Simms instead of Lewis.

I know Sumler was one, but I thought one of them was either Bobo or McElfresh. Could be mistaken though.

Regardless - yes, fair point, they did get open on those plays. But I maintain that zero 30-yard plays in four games (not counting Barbour) shows that we lack sufficient big-play ability.

If we are talking yards after catch, then I agree with you. If we are talking being overthrown, I still put that on the Qb as Rick mentioned earlier, those are timing issues that the qb's and receivers work on during practice. I don't know if it is the types of passed we are throwing (ie screens, short dump offs etc) that aren't allowing our receivers to get into space, or the receivers themselves who can't get the yards after catch to make big plays.

So lack of tall physical presense is why we get the variety of penalties when we get to red zone? Is that why Jones cut inside instead of outside at 5 yard line last week?

Me thinks it is more of mental mistakes and lack of execution. Go back and watch the game again and watch closely what happens in red zone.

Atl, not sure if you listened to the coach show last night. Scott made several references to having new players who would be in the right positions. This may be a stretch, but I "heard" (made me think) that he believed our receivers were not in the proper position and that would lead to better execution. it made me wonder if he was thinking of the overthrown long passes, that faster and more precise would have been able to haul those in.

The WR situation is something new to us. For the first time is a long time we have a weakness at WR. The Bobo and Simms Fresh crew will never get it done, even if Peyton Manning was back there throwing balls. Those two would likely be a FCS team's #2 or #3 WRs. They have zero explosion once they catch the ball, are always tackled by the first guy, and will never out physical a FBS DB for a ball. They can catch the ball, but sometimes that is an after thought when you have a young QB trying to make things happen. The TEs are a different story, we look to have some strength there but Scott does not use them near the amount they should be in his offense. Montez McGuire has looked good here and there but he is keyed on by other teams since he is the only WR who poses a threat. I am hoping that the young guys are given a shot, what do we have to lose?

Sumler looked to me like he under-ran that long pass, rather than Lamb over-threw it. He sort of raised his arms too early & pulled up. It was weird looking at the time.

True. Many of them will jump ship until the wins start coming back wholesale. Happens every where except those places that tailgating trumps the performance on the field. ECU would still relatively pack the joint even if they went Ofer.
