My cousin hit a 60 yarder a couple weeks back in a game. He plays for Pinecrest in Southern Pines. They let him attempt a 63, but that was blocked.

We already have a kicker who can hit those fieldgoals. Mark Powell, IMHO, is actually a much better kicker than Drew Stewart. Mark's kicks are much higher and longer meaning that he's less likely to have one blocked. Mark can also punt which is not something anyone other than Sam can do. I still can't figure out why Drew keeps kicking when Mark and Zach Matics are both sitting on the sidelines.

I'd like to say that politics doesn't ever come into play in choosing who plays and who doesn't at any school. I do wonder sometimes if Drew's father's position with the WCOB has made an impact on Drew's playing time.

Of course, I speak only from what I've seen of warmups and practices. We all know that's not a whole picture.

Last time I said this was after watching Adran Mora of Dalton High School kick a 54 yarder. Unfortunately , The Stink got to him first. I'm sure we all remember him...I taught him and he would have much rather been in Boone!

My sister in law teaches there and my brother calls all the Pinecrest sports games on Moore Sports Radio...I'll pass on the info to come to Boone if my brother doesn't send him to ECU first. LOL...We do have two kids from Pinecrest on ASU's team.

Who's your brother? I listen to all Tge Pinecrest stuff I can on 990 WEEB. His brother was Dillon Maples who committed to unc for football and baseball, but opted for the Cubs.

One of my tweets was picked up nationally last night: "@USATODAYhss: Pinecrest (N.C.) kicker Jackson Maples nailed a 60-yard FG tonight, second-longest in state history. (via @MooreSportRadio)"

According to Twitter, Johnson kicked another 52-yarder during High Point Central's game against Ragsdale tonight.

Ok....Time to make a phone call. I spoke to someone tonight who has a good friend that played at South Carolina "years" ago. The Cocks know about Johnson already. He needs to go up the mountain. LOL

We can get all these kickers who can make long ones, but it doesn't help us in the area we need. We need kickers who can make these short ones from the hashmarks.

BTW, I seriously doubt Stewart will be kicking FG's this weekend.

I agree with you on SO MANY levels. Most are made from 35 yards in, not 50+. Missing one from 24 yards??? Someone else should be kicking.
