I can see Ga Southern running the table. The Texas State game should be a good one for a Sun Belt game. The Navy game should be high scoring.

Your joking about Navy being a high scoring game right? Two option teams constantly keeping the clock moving rarely ends in a high scoring affair. The reason they trow up 69 on a Georgia State is cause they can go three and out in roughly 15 seconds. Every time Navy touches the ball 3 minutes are guaranteed to pass.

If App could just protect The Rock and win against GaSt, ULM and Idaho it would be a very successful year. Even wins in 2 out of 3 would be okay and keep App in the middle of the conference. A win against either ULL or stAte would be a huge surprise on the road but maybe if the light has come on for the young'uns..................

I agree Speed, definitely need to figure out how to take 2 of 3 at home. Of course I'd prefer 3 of 3! As for the remaining road games, I think the team will find it difficult to pull off the upsets but if I had to pick one, I'd say we match up better against Ark St. Plus their coach seems to make some suspect calls that could end up helping App.

Only game we may not be in, IMO, is UL-L. It's too bad them and stink don't play this year. Go App!

I like the positive spin, but let's not get carried away. It can't be considered "a very successful year" if we end at 5-7 when one of the losses is against FCS Liberty and one of the wins is against non-scholarship Campbell. And 4-8 is not OK. The four wins would be against absolutely horrible competition. Teams that would find it hard to make the FCS playoffs. Of the 4 wins, Cambell doesn't count. The other 3? One would be against a 1-7 GeoSt team that needed a last second FG needed for a 38-37 win (1-19 since becoming FBS, only win against FCS, and three losses against FCS (2 from SoCon teams). Another would be against a 1-7 Troy team that lost to Abilene Christian and their lone win is against a pitiful NMSU. And another would be against a 1-6 Idaho team that has won 3 games in 3 years, 2 of them against the same pitiful NMSU. Even if we got that 5th win against ULM (3-4), while it's a notch above the others, it isn't great considering 2 of the 3 wins for ULM are against I-Can't-Beat-Abilene-Christian Troy and Idaho and Troy. Georgia Southern is showing the competition is not any better, maybe worse. It is that we are worse, as the loss to Liberty shows.

Need to right the ship, not pretend it is all ok. The best thing is that winning out may indicate improvement, but it will be hard to tell because the competition is noticeably weaker. And last year shows that finishing strong doesn't necessarily translate to better things to come.

Nope...high scoring...
1st Q: 7-7 (1 drive each team)
Half: 14-14 (1 drive each team)
3rd Q: 21-21 (1 drive each team)
End Reg: 28-28 (1 drive each team)
1st OT: 35-35
2nd OT: 42-42
3rd OT: 50-50
4th OT: 58-56 Ga Southern

This all will take place in a shorter time than the ASU game the same day. LOL
And yes, just joking, but it could end up this way..

If we win out it won't prove anything because the competition is noticeably weaker???

You must be talking home games, because we play arguably the two best teams in the conference on the road in back to back weeks. IMO we have 3 very winnable games left at home which would make us 5-7 and only 2 FG's away from being 7-5. Would we have any marquee wins? No, but considering everything going on and this being our first year in the conference I'll take a 4-4 conference record all day. Going forward I expect more, but this year is a different story.

Would it make some people feel better if we had gotten blown out in a few of the losses then come on strong to beat weaker teams and finish with a 5-7 record? Sometimes you just have to find something to hang your hat on. Chalk up the Liberty loss to just a bad night and let it go. The problem many of us have is that we want desparately to undo a couple of the losses. We do need a positive spin. Win the remainder of the games we are supposed to win, pull off a road surprise and play well in the other road game against a (on paper) stronger team. Let's go with the approach that we will win our last 5 and go 7-5. Why the hell not? GSU is obviously legit and we fell victims (somewhat) to very unkind scheduling. Let's just get some positive vibes going, stop analyzing the wins and losses based on what each opponent's wins and losses were and move forward. GO APPS!
