Mountaineer Express to the Game on Saturday
The east-west bus leaves Greensboro at 8 am on Saturdays and arrives in Boone at 10:50 am. Not bad timing for a lunch with my daughter and then off to the stadium. If the roads are bad I may prefer to park my car and eat on campus (my daughter would not like that I am sure.) or within walking distance of her dorm. So having a car is not an advantage once I am in Boone if I don't want to drive at that point.
The bus leaves App for points east at 7:10 pm. Do you think that is late enough to watch the entire game? I would want to leave the stadium at 6:45 I guess to get back to the Red Onion by 7:10. That would give me just a bit over 3 hours for the game.

On a normal day I'd say you could watch all the game and make it over there. With the weather things may slow down some (clearing field, etc).

I am trying to call them just to see. All the brochures says is 365/7 days a week.appgrad81 wrote:Does the bus run in snow? If not, you may be stuck in Boone overnight. But I like your idea.

I have at least have Friday night to see the road conditions before I have to make a decision on Saturday morning. Are they calling for snow by the time one is off the mountain in Wilkes County?biggie wrote:On a normal day I'd say you could watch all the game and make it over there. Wilkes should be just a dusting. And done there early afternoon I'd guess.

The only part I am worried about is the 8-10 part up/down the mountain. I called the bus line and they said they have never cancelled due to weather.biggie wrote:Wilkes should be just a dusting. And done there early afternoon I'd guess.
Now my daughter did not get me a ticket yet so I guess I will get that tomorrow now.

Sitting here at 4400 feet 13 miles north of Boone on Bald Mtn. Hoping I can get down to the game tomorrow. Snowing here on and off now. But no accumulation yet.
