Sunday morning QB ---

Unread post by WVAPPeer » Sun Nov 02, 2014 7:10 am

OK guys/gals there is not much to say other than WOW - For full disclosure we watched this game from the comforts of our den but for all those who were there at KBS our toboggans are off to you - even on TV we could see the wind blowing the snow almost horizontally. Been there on those cold windy days on the East/State side so I can feel your numbing pain --- And there looked to be a good student representation on a nasty day as well --- Way to go APP fans!!! --- On to the game ---
1. I have seen football games for 60+ years and I honestly don't remember ever seeing a team who wanted to play a game LESS than GA State - They were beaten before the opening kick-off
2. To take nothing away from our guys they absolutely came to play and took it to them early and often - It was evident into the first quarter that this was going to be a big day for the Mountaineers
3. Ever since Marcus had those costly fumbles a few weeks back he has looked like he has had something to prove to everyone - not that he needs to prove anything to us because we know how good he is - He is running harder than I ever saw last season and he still has that burst - hopefully he can stay healthy because he is starting to remind me of Kevin Richardson (who still is my favorite APP player) - Fergerson has really come through as well and I am happy for him, it is hard to maintain drive and focus when not playing but he has gotten his chance the last 2 games and proven he is another weapon - David Jackson mentioned Upshaw in pre-game and said he had missed the majority of practices over the 2 week period and I'm sure the coaches felt confident in holding him out
4. Taylor continues to make good decisions - his keeper on the option for the TD was a thing of beauty - his receivers become more reliable each week - a very solid group
5. The OL was great again!!! - having the depth to have a rotation there is huge!!! - hope my man Acey will be able to return
6. The fake FG was one of the sweetest plays I have seen in a long time - it was reported during the game that it was a called play from the beginning but what a "TAKE THAT" moment
7. The defense was totally dominating and yes the last 2 games were not against very good opponents but we have played weak opponents over the years and I can't remember better back to back games against anyone
8. The TV guys were raving about the youth on the D and how they had the makings of really really being good over the next years - These guys are getting better each week
9. Someone called in after the game to again question the kicking - I think we need to give Critcher HUGE credit - he is doing the punting, place-kicking and kick-offs - I'm not sure I have seen another college guy doing all 3 this season - it is tough and I'm sure not ideal for Coach Satterfield - Sam did it periodically and hey, he is a NFL guy --- Lighten up on the kicking!!! - and rest assured the coaches are working it - Check out Moose's recruiting info :o
10. Now we are still young so let's not jump off the roof if we happen to have another ugly game - young teams are unpredictable but winning helps to get everyone on the same page much quicker ---
11. Good things to come!!!

GA St. Actually wanted to get it on before the game. You couldn't see it on TV but their players were very vocal and bouncing all around pregame.

Our guys just ripped their heart out by being physical the fist couple of drives. The last two games this has been a welcomed change. We are no longer letting the game come to us we are taking it to the opponent.

The young guys on defense and of the Oline are really stepping up and it's going to be fun watching them the next three years.

Who in their right mind would question the kicking on a day like yesterday?

makes you wonder some times doesn't it --- another guy called in and said he had never heard the term "mesh point" until today and asked Steve to explain it - nothing wrong there as the guy asked a legitimate question for himself -

When Trent Miles called those timeouts before half, they tried to get fired back up when the crowd started booing

I think the TD on the fake FG was the dagger in the hearts at that point

That will be a classic that I will never forget :!: I agree, that play broke their backs and motivation. We all had a great time in the East Stands telling them to call time outs all through the 2nd half. One coach just smiled and nodded on that last drive as he was packing their head phones away and we were all yelling to him to call a time out. It's Always Great to be a Mountaineer, but especially enjoyable on days like yesterday :!:

Great write up. You hit on all key positives. The biggest thing I observed was GSU was so unprepared for this type of weather and our guys were so pumped...there was no chance for a GSU win. Great job on D to keep points off the board and yards to a ridiculous minimum. Great job Saturday!!!

He may have had confidence but his key player and QB was absolutely miserable. You could see it from the whole team from the first play.

I'm not going to give the weather all the credit. I think we would have beat them just as bad if it was 65 and sunny.

Some of the calls into Saturday Evening QB were pathetic. Another guy asked what are we going to do about this two QB system with Taylor and Kam.

that was the dumbest thing i think I have heard all year. how does one not understand that it is the 4th qtr of a blowout and they are putting Kam in for reps?

I think you have to give GS defense atleast some credit for playing hard, and trying to not let the weather effect their play. Their offense threw them under the bus, they didn't want to be out there, they just wanted to get to the sidelines as quick as possible and put their jackets back on. If I was a defensive player, I would have been really pissed after the game at the offensive players.

You are right - they did have some defensive guys who played hard ---

I dunno... maybe Cox could have scored another TD and picked up another 40 yards.
