Recruiting Question

Unread post by MDaniels84 » Wed Dec 03, 2014 11:28 am

Just wanted to know y'alls thoughts on this. Since Coach Stepp is off to SMU, how is that going to impact some of our potential recruits that he had built a relationship with such as the Adams kid from Greenwood ? Just wondering on this Wednesday in December.

Stepp probably will, if he feels a kid can really help SMU, try and get him to switch from App to SMU, nothing wrong with that, his first priorities now are to SMU not App. What SS has to do is make sure these kids listen to him not Stepp, and make sure they make it to Boone.

I'd probably be more worried about that if he took a job closer to Boone. SMU is fine, but a hard sell for a kid to trek halfway across the country for that rebuilding job.

Ultimately, you hope the kid picked App because he liked the whole program, the school, etc., and a coach leaving won't effect that.

It's a possibility, but I think Stepp and SMU's focus will be on recruiting Texas. That is always priority #1 for those schools. Our staff just needs to make sure they can get into the homes of the kid's Stepp was recruiting and continue to build those relationships
