Expect Mondo Williams to make his announcement either Sunday or Monday. He is playing in the Juco National Championship game on Sunday.

Papenheim seems to have updated his twitter bio in our favor, or it has been that way for some time and I just noticed.

Goodman is probably a fallback at this point if David doesn't sign (unlikely)

and, like mentioned above, they'll wait. David will likely be redshirted next year, like JP was this year. after that, JP and David will fight it out for when Taylor graduates
I'm not ready to anoint Lamb a four-year starter just yet. He's going to have to get bigger and stronger if he's to avoid the kind of injuries that curtailed Edwards' career (lawnmower accidents notwithstanding). Caruso is noticeably more muscular than Lamb, even though they had similar builds last summer. When Satterfield challenged his team to get bigger and stronger in the off season, I'm pretty sure at least part of that challenge was directed toward Lamb.
I do agree he will need to get bigger and stronger but Taylor is a lot smarter in avoiding the contact that Armanti seemed to love engaging in (so far). I think a lot of Armanti's injuries were due to how many times he ran the ball and, as stated above, he took a lot of hard hits going for the extra yard.

A lot of Armanti's injuries were due to how many times we played fELON and his surprising lack of skill in yard work, but I get what you're saying. Somebody runs the ball as much as he did, some injuries are to be expected.

He's been that way for a while although it's gotten a little bit more in the past three weeks or so. But not too much. He's always had App at the top but like everyone he's been seeing if any more offers show up. Been offered for a while now so I've got some inquires in about position.

Even though I haven't been posting a lot I'm on it getting ready for the final push.

Just finished watching Devin Papenheim's tape. He looks like he is loaded with potential. He has got everything you need: Height, football intelligence, tackling ability. Now we just need to make sure our coaches get some more muscle on him (he is only 225 for his height 6'6) and work on his quickness and he might be something special. We won't see him until 2016 on the field unless he adds a lot of muscle between now and next fall.

Those guys we get into the school in Jan will have the benefit of getting most of Mike's off season program. Of our current commits that's three right now. We'll see who we pick up with the rest of our spots and who we sign come Feb. We've seen what having a real program can do even without a full year yet and I have a feeling that our guys are going to be in some of the best shape we've seen in a while come fall. I have no doubts that Papenheim (if we sign him) and the rest will get what their position requires to get it done.

Are the three projected early enrollees the GMC guys?

I thought Rubino was coming in January.

Letman from GMC, TE Collin Reed, and K Rubino. Letman is graduating and can sign his NLI anytime after Dec 15th (first day of JUCO signing period). Reed and Rubino have already signed their Aid Agreements. All are expected to enroll in January.

Any word if we're going to pursue any UAB transfers?

I actually hope that any coach who is worth their salt would wait a couple of weeks before trying to go that route. those kids had a pretty damn emotional week

I know their running back already has upwards of 5 offers and is about to go visit Indiana. I think the recruitment is under way.

I initially had the same feelings but if you can get them on campus for spring ball you need to act fast.

As much as I'd like to agree and ask for a period of time before the vultures swoop in, it's college football recruiting. Which means as soon as it's okay by NCAA regulations! you have to move! The first to get into Birmingham and begin the process is likely to be the biggest winner. I seem to remember stories of programs getting hotel rooms across from PSU's campus holding recruiting sessions while the news crews were all over Happy Valley.

So as a new comer to App State football (been a fan for around 1.5 years), are the level of recruits we are getting now (75% most are 2 stars, 25% are 3 stars) unprecedented in ASU history? Were we getting guys like this when we were in FCS? Was a 2 star guy who we got when we were FCS a huge win for us and a 3 star equivalent to a 5 star at FBS level?

Agreed, plus some of those guys might be looking to transfer in January so they can take part in spring ball at their new schools.

According to his twitter, App has offered Richmond, TX DE/DT Sidney Murray.

Edit: He is in the class of 2016.

quite honestly, we were getting 2 and some 3 stars before FBS. just a lot of them weren't ever reviewed by the recruiting sites to get a rating. skill level and talent wise, I don't think we've ever lacked behind much. depth and size is where we lacked and are trying to build that now

basically, any HS recruit that actually gets their highlight reviewed by one of the scouting services will get a minimum 2 star. the star ratings are really for nothing but bragging rights. there are kids who are unrated walk-ons that become great players (ECU's Justin Hardy for ex.) and there are 4 and 5 star busts.

Yes without a doubt we are getting better tea lent straight out of high school than ever before. Thats not a knock on the past either, just the result of moving up to FBS
