Seems quite a few people have agreed with me on this. I wasn't trying to start an argument with anyone, and have been attacked for pointing out a fact: In the real world, someone who has been demoted twice, and has a job description that puts him in charge of very little, isn't the 3rd highest paid person in an organization.

If you and Apparj can't get your head's around that, you probably should visit other threads.

Well first off how has his "demotion" from special teams worked out for us now that we are at an all time low in that department?
The guy is devoted to ASU football and maybe, just maybe, he has a total value to the organization that warrants his salary. Just because someone else MAY deserve more does not mean he deserves less. You may even agree with that but you just went about it very strangely.
If we are going to start bitching this soon after a VERY successful season this is going to be a very long off season.
Now with all that said if you can find the money I'll bet they all could get a raise. Wouldn't that be cool?

Ease up a little. It's clear that the folks who make these decisions do not agree with you. They are the athletic department and university officials who administer contracts, salaries and benefits. They have been in on all the negotiations; they know the exact provisions of all contracts and have legal responsibility for honoring contracts to the letter.

We get it; you don't like their decisions. Guess what? Despite your protestations, it's not going to change this fiscal year. The next fiscal year could be different. That won't become clear until after July 1. I'm predicting that the university will neither need nor ask for our input. :!:

That is factually untrue:

1996-2004: Appalachian State (Defensive Line/Special Teams)
2005-09: Appalachian State (Linebackers)
2010-12: Appalachian State (Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers)
2013: Appalachian State (Defensive Line)
2014: Appalachian State (Inside Linebackers)
Oh. So Dales Jones was the LBs coach during the most successful era in App State history?

Someone tell John Law and Eric Boggs that their coach is overpaid.

Thanks for clearing that part up for me.

Write an email expressing your displeasure. I know for a fact AD admins love saving hilarious emails throughout the year.

I stated several times that I understand why he is paid what he is paid. He was given his contract 3 years ago, when he was DC, and demotion or not, that contract remains in force. Such is life.

It is not, however, because the people who make decisions think he is so valuable to our organization as to merit a salary that is around 33% higher than 3 coordinators. If you think that, you are delusional.

I know very well the salary and budgetary issues that this move up to FBS has presented our Athletic Department. Paying a position coach that much would not be something they would willingly do...unless, the contract was agreed to when he was a coordinator, and before we announced our move up.

Again - it is what it is. I don't begrudge the man for making the money he negotiated to make, but it is far from ideal for the stability of the rest of our coaching staff. I don't understand why it is such an affront to you and the rest of The Dale Jones Fan Club™ that I point that out.

Chris Moore was our Running Backs coach during our 3 titles, he must be one helluva running backs coach!!! What is he doing now? Must have moved on to a great job from here...

Oh...wait...

Nice try.

Despite your ridiculous assumptions... here are some facts:

1.) Chris Moore is sitting at home on mom and dad's couch, eating Doritos and doing nothing*

2.) Dale Jones just got a big raise to continue coaching LBs for a program that is intent and focused on winning the Sun Belt next season.

Based on those facts alone, the professionals that get paid to run a successful football program and know every detail within App State's football efforts (not you) would agree with "The Dale Jones Fan Club"** and NOT you.

*I actually have no idea what Chris Moore is doing... but he's not coaching college football.

** You are SOOO funny!

You know appgrad, you could have just pointed out that you found it strange that a position coach was paid more than others and that certainly is a question/reality that could have been discussed - but, instead, you found it necessary to make snide remarks about the coach --- that's what some of us are sick of reading ---

1) Probably correct.

2) Everyone got a raise. Not sure how the decisions were made on that... But I imagine service time factored in, and he has that in spades. His contract probably also laid out his increase levels. These are state employees too, so there are guidelines regarding that.
