Braxton Miller
Sounds like Braxton Miller might pull a Russell Wilson and transfer for his extra season. What if (purely hypothetical) he said he wanted to play his last season in Boone- yeah I know it ain't happening. Would we say thanks but no thanks?

Re: Braxton Miller
I'm just going to say it. I intentionally inserted the words, "hypothetically" and "ain't going to happen" for a reason. I completely understand that the notion of him transferring from Big to Sunbelt is a ridiculous notion. The topic was simply a what if. IF by some crazy chance a Heisman caliber QB wanted to spend his last season in Boone would we take him over TL?mtnjax wrote:I'm just gonna say it. Why would be go from playing in the B1G to playing in the Sun Belt?
Dumb thread is dumb
Re: Braxton Miller
Obviously not happening, but still curious to see how the OSU QB situation shakes out. Miller almost definitely gone, but you'll also have JT Barrett and Cardale Jones both left on the roster...and both are Freshmen. Have to think one of them will leave after next year if the other one locks down the starters job...

Re: Braxton Miller
There is no need to call this dumb. Especially since you commented on the question.
If Miller would express interest in us then you have to listen to his reasons for wanting to come to App. His interest in us would be good for us. Having said that, I don't think that him being here helps the team in turns of long term development. He could help us when the Sun. Belt and get an invite to the Go Daddy Bowl, but we can obtain that without him. Which QB are you willing to sacrifice to have Miller for one year? One of them would surely transfer. If we weren't set up already at that position then it would be good but not with what we have.

Re: Braxton Miller
I completely agree that we are set at QB. Let's just say that he would be the difference maker in the Clemson game, we run the table and go undefeated. Based on the Bowl setup we would still more than likely be left out of a New Year's Bowl so his presence would not put us in a better post-season position. I would not want to see us lose TL or another QB for a perceived shot at an unbeaten season. The answer to my own question would be no we are not intersted.AppSt94 wrote:There is no need to call this dumb. Especially since you commented on the question.

Re: Braxton Miller
I think the question is a good off season filler. I view football as the ultimate team game because everyone needs to execute their responsibility to be effective. I don't think Miller would be the X factor against Clemson especially coming off an injury and not played a down in over a year.bigdaddyg wrote:I completely agree that we are set at QB. Expand the topic to: What Graduating Senior has eligibility left (& UAB players) that we're interested in?
Also, has anyone heard who is pursuing Kam?

Re: Braxton Miller
I don't think it would help our program to have a one and done QB at this time. We have a rising soph starter, redshirt frosh back-up and hopefully a 3-star recruit coming. There just isn't a huge upside over the long term and the 3 mentioned above would not be too pleased by the lack of loyalty. Were it a different situation with no strong returning starter, then maybe.
It ain't happening at App. He should try and go to Florida State, Florida or even Alabama where they have openings next season and could compete for a title (maybe not Florida but you catch the drift).

Re: Braxton Miller
There is talk that Winston will not go to the NFL and come back to Florida State for his senior season. Miller and the Noles have come up on radio and I'm sure some message boards, but JW hasn't ruled out coming back. Can't see the two of them on the same team.

Won't Winston be a junior if he comes back next year?luvyosef wrote:There is talk that Winston will not go to the NFL and come back to Florida State for his senior season. Re: Braxton Miller
For the sake of arguing, if Braxton miller, a heisman candidate, for some reason decided he wanted to come to app state I'm pretty positive the staff would say yes in a heartbeat. And the team would be better off for that year.

Re: Braxton Miller
yeah i'm sure we'd say no to a guy that's been stellar for three years and was gonna be a heisman candidate before his injury. but it's just a ridiculous idea, fsu or oregon look like some strong possibilities for him right now.

Re: Braxton Miller
Honestly I wouldn't take him. Obviously he is a great talent, but we have an established starter who set our Freshman Passing record in only 10 starts. Bringing in Miller would force us to bench Lamb for 1 year which would not be good for team chemistry. This isn't the same situation as having two guys battling for the starting role as Miller will only come in knowing he is the man. If Caruso beats out Lamb that would be a different story. Had our QB's struggled last year then yes I'd say go for it.

Re: Braxton Miller
Then you play the best QB on the depth chart the following year. Taylor had a outstanding year but given the choice I think I'll go with a heisman candidate. I'm hoping he lands at duke thoughAppSt94 wrote:And then what?Yosef10 wrote:For the sake of arguing, if Braxton miller, a heisman candidate, for some reason decided he wanted to come to app state I'm pretty positive the staff would say yes in a heartbeat.
