Re: CONFERENCE GAMES
I like the double headers even if the time gap between the games does not make the games a true double-header.huskie3 wrote:Are all conference games doubleheaders?
Given the size of a plane that would be chartered I am guessing both MBB and WBB can fit on one plane and then add in coaches and assistants of various type and I would think this could be a be $ saver on travel costs. What is the total number for each team that would travel?
Do we fly a charter out of HKY (or other airport) for all of this or do we find seats on a regular flight and just book early enough for everyone to have a seat?
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: CONFERENCE GAMES
The teams did not fly together to Arkansas State. The men were then delayed 3 hours getting back on Sunday evening.
The following pulled from Bowman's article this morning.
“I don’t think we got their best effort — I don’t know if they’re tired,” said Marlin, who registered his 300th victory as a Division I head coach. “With this schedule we have, we got here before they did. We had more rest than they did. It’s almost like we were the home team.
“We left the Cajun Dome after our game Saturday and flew direct to Charlotte. Our bus broke down about 11 miles out and we sat on the road for more than an hour but we still got to the hotel before they got back from Jonesboro.
“We’re going to have that same (travel) situation later, but I think Jim and the guys here have it a lot — being on the outer footprint, it’s hard. Travel can be difficult.”
These back to back return home games are considered a favor from the Sun Belt, to be the home team in the second game, but it could have the opposite effect when travel delays come into play. Volleyball ran into nearly the same issue. They never won when they flew. This will without a doubt be something to keep an eye on all season.

Re: CONFERENCE GAMES
I don't understand our conference travel schedule at all. I thought the conference's idea was to set up travel partners. Thus, it would make sense for us to play at travel partners on a Thursday-Saturday weekend - such as UALR/ Ark State, Texas St/ UTA, or ULL/ ULM. Instead, the App State basketball teams have no convenient Thursday - Saturday road trips.

Re: CONFERENCE GAMES
The schedule is designed to make travel as even for all 11 teams as possible, so there's some weird road trips in there.
