I'm sure there were several of our coaches at the game. We had 2 commits playing (one for each side) as well as a number of still uncommitted offers playing. We also had a number of offered players that have committed elsewhere. I'll just list the first two groups below.

Commits Playing:
ATH Khylil Miller (6′ 2″ 170) of North Davidson High School in Lexington, NC
OL Victor Johnson (6′ 5″ 260) of North Augusta High School in North Augusta, SC

Uncommitted Offers Playing:
RB Tyrik Johnson (5′ 10″ 180) of Goose Creek High School in Goose Creek, SC
WR Markeyvious Adams (6’ 4” 185) of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, SC
WR Eri’Reon Hayes (6′ 2″ 180) of Dillon High School in Dillon, SC
ATH Bryce Love (5’ 9” 180) of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School in Wake Forest, NC
ATH Kyjon Tyler (5′ 9″ 165) of Sumter High School in Sumter, SC
DT Paul McKiever (6′ 5″ 275) of Batesburg-Leesville High School in Batesburg, SC
LB Hassan Belton (6′ 1″ 200) of Blythewood High School in Blythewood, SC
DB Cedarius Rookard (6′ 2″ 190) of Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, SC

Many sites also have ATH Dupree Hart listed as uncomitted but he committed to play baseball for College of Charleston months ago. Appears most sites haven't picked that up yet.

During the week of practice I saw a few mentions of both Miller and Johnson stating that they were practicing well. Of the uncommitted players the two that garnered the most attention were Adams and Belton although I did see some mentions of Love, McKiever, and Rookard in a few places. But Adams and Belton were the most mentioned of the group.

As for the game Belton received SC Defensive MVP with 14 tackles (2 TFL) and a recovered fumble. The Shrine Bowl site hasn't updated their site with full game stats yet but I'll look around and see if I can find some.

From internet reports WR Brad Stewart (6′ 2″ 190) of Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA has picked up a reported offer to App. I have added a player page with video to the Main Page. The Rivals and 24/7 3 star WR/CB is showing additional reported offers from Army, UTC, Cincinnati, Marshall, Presbyterian, Princeton, Towson, Western Kentucky, Wofford, and Yale.

The coaches can still offer kids during the dead period?

No telling when the offer went out, just said it was reported today. But they can offer via text, im/dm, or through HS coaches. They just can't contact recruits by voice phone call, visit them either at school or home, and no visits on campus, either unofficial or official. And for those wondering the dead period is until Jan 14th. Rules are linked below.

Dead Period — Coaches are not permitted to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off-campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by recruits or to make phone calls to recruits.

Daniel David was named MVP of the North-South Ga. All Star game today. Looks like we got a good one!

Seems like a lot of georgia southern fans are posting on brad Stewart's Twitter. Looks like he may need some app love to help him realize WRs with talent don't go to southern.

Just saw in "The Dispatch", that Miller was committed to East Carolina. This is a Davidson County newspaper that reported this in a story about his Coach and Shy Tuttle.. Any news on this?

I read that about Miller as well and I haven't heard anything (my wife teaches there). I'll see what I can dig up after the break. Frankly, I'd much rather hold on to Obe Fortune!

I read the story and if you want a guess I'm going to say it's a misprint. ECU was his first offer back on May 2nd. App offered him in Aug. He had plenty of time to commit to them if he wanted to. Not one site has him listed at ECU, his twitter has no mention of a flip, and the ECU 24/7 board hasn't got a thing listed in their recruiting thread, or anywhere else, about it. And that thread is run by their 24/7 site admin. I'll check with Mike at 24/7 today as he's been talking to some of the commits for an article but I think I would have seen something on twitter if he had de-committed from App. Not a peep has been said.

Just as a follow up to my post above I've linked the original story from The Dispatch on Miller's commit back on Dec 11th. It mentions he committed to App over ECU, among others. Given that this is an all Davidson County paper it stands to reason that if anything had happened in the past 3 weeks that they would have done another story about a de-commit and flip to ECU.

Many people expected him to go to ECU when he was offered back in May but I felt App was always in the mix, especially with his good friend Akeem Davis committed here. It wasn't a surprise to me when he committed and everything he's said since has given no indication he's anything but a firm commit. He stated to one of the recruiting sites after the commit that he was visiting here on Jan 23rd and he was not taking any other visits. I'll update with anything else that comes up.

About one thing there is no doubt. This last month is going to be the usual nerve racking time and nothing is official on anyone not already signed until the faxes come in on the 4th. I have nothing but complete and total respect for our coaches and coaches all around the country who have to go through this each and every year. It's all part of the job but having to work each year going through many hundreds of evals, offering a few hundred players, trying to find and get committed anywhere from 12-15+ to as many as 25 or more players, and then having to keep on every single one of them trying to keep them committed, all the while trying to find backups for each one in case they de-commit. And least we forget the little thing of coaching a full season right in the middle of it all. As I said, total respect.

Great to see these numbers (2 picks to an Ohio State recruit aside), since he was in an offense who didn't throw much...I'll take 65% and 2 TDs most days!

"David was named the North MVP by throwing for 170 yards on 13-for-20 passing. He threw two touchdowns and two interceptions."

Nothing to this. I e-mailed the writer of the story and he is going to correct the section about Miller tonight. He apologized and said he just "had ECU on the brain" when he wrote it. Just a misprint, as thought.

Did we recruit Victor Johnson to play OL, DL, or TE? He is listed as a OL and DL on 247 but he played TE in the shrine bowl.

OL. He talked about it in an interview. He played all three positions in HS and had dropped some weight after season for other sports but they are going to get the weight back up for the line. We've got plenty of TE's.

Mike and I have been talking over the dead period and been looking for information on all the positions and possible targets for our remaining spots as well as backups, if needed. Based on what has been developed I have a few new names to add to the list of OL recruits. I have five names to post about here. I had them on the Main Page in various places as two of them are currently committed elsewhere and two others don't currently hold offers but are high up on the board. I have moved the committed elsewhere players up to the offers section for now (they already have player pages with video built for each from before) and I will be adding player pages for the two that don't have offers yet.

Offers:
OL/DL Jonathan Roth (6′ 5″ 272) of Fulton High School in Knoxville, TN
OL Tarrick Thomas (6′ 4″ 270) of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL
OL/DE Parker Howell (6′ 5″ 275) of Christ Presbyterian Academy on Nashville, TN

Considering:
OL Grant Dixon (6′ 5″ 287) of Providence High School in Charlotte, NC
OL Tyler Norris (6′ 5″ 260) of Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN

Roth is a Rivals and 24/7 2 star who is currently committed to MTSU.
Thomas is a ESPN, Rivals, and 24/7 3 star currently committed to FAU.
Howell is a Rivals 2 star and 24/7 3 star with additional reported offers from Air Force, Furman, Mercer, MTSU, Samford, and Western Kentucky.

We are digging for information on other positions and I have a couple of possible offers to add to the Main Page once I dig a bit more. I'll be posting any additions here shortly as well as adding visitor lists for the official visit weekends coming up Jan 16th-18th and 23rd-25th once they come together. We have 9 days left in the dead period and 30 until signing day so things are going to get very busy very fast. I'll keep everyone informed as timely as possible.

Just had a minute and wanted to look at the "big" receivers we have offered. (Big to me is above 5'6") but the ones I looked at were 6'2" and over

Markeyvious Adams--UnCommitted...said to be leaning to 1-10-15 commitment at an allstar game.
WR Adonis Lee committed to GW.....what....GW over AppState or did we cool on this kid?
Jordan Carswell committed to UNCC....What....
Vaquan Small UnCommitted but said to be warm on syracuse...has not been recruited until recently by anyone other than us at BCS level. Hey News Flash Syracuse is dang cold!...
Brad Stewart..App Offered Brad prior to "The catch" No one else has followed up but this kids must have had a great year in HS as he was the 146th ranked recruit in GA.
Go APPS!

i'm pretty sure that Jordan Carswell was committed to UNCC last year before going the prep route.

Adonus Lee doesn't make sense unless we have cooled on him
