Re: Recruiting, 2015
Just a few notes. Several things could still change between now and Wednesday. I'll try and keep everyone updated as quickly as possible. Hopefully they will get this site back to speed before Wednesday but until they do I'm still having trouble with the pages and also posting in a timely manner. Just know I'm doing the best I can right now.
I expect to see a couple more offers go out and commits come in. We'll see but not much would surprise me at this point. It truly isn't over until the faxes come in Wednesday. We'll see what happens.
Bottom line is we're not done yet. And there is usually a surprise or two on signing day each year. Hang on for the ride.
I will be very happy Wednesday evening. And it'll probably last at least a day until the full 2016 recruiting season gets underway.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
And as a follow up to the above post it's being reported on twitter that LB Edward Davis (6′ 0″ 220) of Farmville Central High School in Farmville, NC has committed. Working on it right now.

I don't care where he played, that navy tackles is unbelievable. I'll take that anyfiremoose wrote:And as a follow up to the above post it's being reported on twitter that LB Edward Davis (6′ 0″ 220) of Farmville Central High School in Farmville, NC has committed. Working on it right now.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
It's confirmed. LB Edward Davis (6' 0" 220) of Farmville Central High School in Farmville, NC has committed to App after his weekend visit. He was a Shrine Bowl player this year and finished with 238 tackles and 4 interceptions for his senior season. I am having a rough time with the pages but I'll move him to the Commits section as soon as I can.

What a pasty little prick. Decommitting, then publicly insulting a school that spent 9 months with him and his family. Recruiting is always cut throat and I don't usually react like this to a flip, but I wish nothing but misfortune to that little f***er.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
No matter how frustrated you may be, as a coach you have to bite your tongue sometimes. I understand his frustration too but you have to take the high road in public as this happens to every program. I have been watching some of the flips happening with SEC teams, UGA specifically, since I am in the middle of SEC territory. Even the biggest boys are getting hit this year on flips. Last I saw they were over 6 flips late in the process.
One more point, can anyone really criticize a kid for trying to get the best opportunity for his future. His decision may or may not be the right one but we have to honor his decision and believe he did it in good faith. Whether we like it or not we are in a pecking order. We will have to fight over time to minimize that delta with overachievers on our roster and results.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
OK Everybody. I've got to take a step back from this site for a little while as I've been trying for over two hours just to do a simple edit of the 2015 Main Page. I was finally able to move Davis to the Commits section but no luck on his player page. Unless something else major breaks I'll try again later this evening or tonight. Sorry but it's very frustrating for everything to keep locking up or to lose my edits. I'll be back soon.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
We will put the line at 2.5, over/under on how many more bowl games Appalachian State plays in over the next five years than Syracuse?

We're closing out with a thud instead of a flourish. Don't like missing out on Thompson, Thomas, Roth, and now Whitner flipping. Hope we get some good surprises by Wednesday. No more bad news.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I get where you coming from Gnzo but I think the kid did the right thing for him. A P5 offer is looked upon as better than a G5 offer. It's not always true but that is the reality. He got his first P5 offer late and as a parent, I would advise him to take the opportunity to explore the option. He asked all the right questions and felt it was a better fit for him. I don't like the outcome but I am impressed with how he conducted his research to make an informed decision. I didn't see where he insulted us.Gonzo wrote:What a pasty little prick. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Why do you think we are closing out like a thud? We lost one kid to a flip and a few others we were in the running. Did I miss someone else flipping? We can't get everyone and with the limited spots that we have it can't be easy on the staff to prioritize offers. I hope we can keep Fortune. I like his football skills but seems to be a quality human being as well.BUTCH1991 wrote:We're closing out with a thud instead of a flourish. Re: Recruiting, 2015
its an insult to our coaching staff who, as Sloan said on twitter, spent 9 months building the relationship with kid to the point that he committed to App, but he decided after an offer and only 10 days of talking with Cuse that he would rather go there. basically, he gave our staff the middle finger as reward for all the work they put in from the start, while Cuse came in at the last minute because they whiffed on someone elseAppSt94 wrote:I get where you coming from Gnzo but I think the kid did the right thing for him. Re: Recruiting, 2015
It would be no different if we swooped in at the last minute and grabbed a committ from another school. it isn't much different than learning work skills from one employer and then taking those skills to another employer for more money.mtnjax wrote:its an insult to our coaching staff who, as Sloan said on twitter, spent 9 months building the relationship with kid to the point that he committed to App, but he decided after an offer and only 10 days of talking with Cuse that he would rather go there. basically, he gave our staff the middle finger as reward for all the work they put in from the start, while Cuse came in at the last minute because they whiffed on someone elseAppSt94 wrote:I get where you coming from Gnzo but I think the kid did the right thing for him. Im really excited about adding Davis. He is very aggressive and spent a lot of time in the oppositions backfield. He could be a star for us!firemoose wrote:It's confirmed.
