Probably North Greenville University. Greenville, NC, high schools are Conley and Rose.TheMoody1 wrote:Greenville, NC?
EDIT: It looks like there is a North Pitt HS in the county, but not North Greenville.

University...not High School. I was adding a couple of offers and had HS on the brain.firemoose wrote:According to twitter post from a Sports Illustrated writer Graduate Assistant/TE coach Nic Cardwell is leaving to take the OL coaching position at North Greenville University. I believe Nic is is was just a graduate assistant. Therefore bottom of barrel pay. Probably just looking for a bigger paycheck that is inclusive of benefits. Hate to lose him. He has a knack for injecting some emotion into the players and firing them up.Gonzo wrote:Did he get fired?

I know Nic's mom and Nic bleeds Black and Gold. This was a chance for him to be a full-time assistant in the (small) college ranks. Hate to lose him but it's a good opportunity for him. Would not surprise me one bit to see him at App again in the future, I know that's what he would prefer, and he is a great guy and will be a great coach!

Nic will fit in well at NGU. It's private, Baptist church affiliated, and they've had winning football the past 4-5 years. Nice little stadium that is about 10 years old and built exclusively with donations. The current president (Jimmy Epting) is retiring and he brought them from the brink of closing completely to their current state of increasing enrollment every year. Knowing Nic's reputation as a believer and his strong faith he'll fit in very nicely there. It's a good hire for NGU.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Post: GA/TE Coach Cardwell leaving
Grad assistant pay is little more than minimum wage for a very limited number of hours. Nic was probably volunteering double the hours for which he was being compensated; and still paying the going rate for graduate tuition, a place of residence and most meals out-of-pocket. For a guy his age, he needs a full-time salary and benefits to move on with his life and his career.
I'm grateful for Nic's many contributions to the success of our program as a player and as a coach and wish him nothing but continued success wherever life leads him. If we're fortunate, maybe that will be back to The High Country sometime down the road.

Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.

I know Nic well, this is for the best IMHO. Since he has been at App he has sort of stalled coaching wise, he needs to get out and garner experience and fresh perspectives. He likely will be back at some point for sure.
