Funny Furman story

Unread post by TheMoody1 » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:33 am

My son has an assistant coach that played at Furman. He has told me stories of the guy making smart remarks or giving him the eye whenever he wears App gear at school. After practice yesterday he needed to ask a question about something and went into the coaches office. He had on an App Under Armor shirt and the coach immediately glared at him and asked him why he was wearing "that shirt" in his office. My son finally got the nerve ask the coach why he hates APP State so much.

"They cost me a National Championship because my QB fell down at the 1 yard line."

This guy was an All-American defensive end and his QB was Ingle Martin. :D :D :D

Moody:

That's pretty funny! He should have told him that end of the field is haunted ... at least, it should seem that way for Furman.

I hope we kick some Furple butts on Saturday!

Should he have said my QB cost us not App?

Anyway, I would have said the only reason you had a chance is becuase our QB was hurt in the 1st qtr. We would have destroyed you had Richie played the whole game.

Dingleberry Martin...I remember him.

I also remember when Yosef fired his gun down in Greenville and the paladin's horse reared up and threw him off.

That's hilarious. I will say this about Ingle Martin. I did rush the field after that game and I ran into him on the field. He was walking towards Owens and I said (nicely), "Hey, Ingle good game man, both teams are great." He said "Thanks man, good luck." I always thought that was classy of him.

I'd heard that about him, too. Ironic that he and Jason both ended up with the Packers after that season. J used to tell me how they'd give each other a hard time about that day--all in good fun. Ingle wasn't with the Pack long...got cut pretty quickly while Sticks went on to three years in GB.

Well, I'm glad to hear that's what he remembers as having cost them the game and not the ref's call of a fumble that iced it for us. The Furman side of our family still swears his arm was moving forward. I have a section of the goal post from that game sitting in my APP shrine so they have to see it whenever they come over :)
