3/25 Wake Forest

Unread post by AppinVA » Wed Mar 25, 2015 5:17 pm

Apps trail 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth. Fell down 4-1 with three in the top of the inning, but App got two back. Wake went in order in the fourth. In the home half of the fourth, App got the lead off runner on with a walk. So far, one on with one out.

A two run shot by Pierson puts App up 5-4 with two away in the fourth.

I walk downstairs for a cup of water and come back as we are tied. What happened?

Bases now loaded with 2 out top of 8.

I walk back downstairs and now we are down 11-8. I don't know what to do but I guess I need to not go downstairs.

Those two plays by Stroup were horrible. Both times he ran back lazily and he missed them. If he were my player he'd be on the bench Friday in Little Rock.

Losing is one thing, not hustling is another.

App lead 8-4 end of 6th, Devrieze was pitching great, had 7 strike outs. Jones, changes pitchers three times since for who knows why. 7runs scored in 8th. Jones in process of giving away another game. Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!

Jones can't catch the ball for his right fielder. It should have been 8-5 B8.

This is a new rock bottom. We can not get the lineup right. We can not manage the bullpen. Best talent is last holdovers from Pollard. This could even get worse next year. Stroupe is like 2 for the season and he gets nod in right field. We have pitcher get pulled with 7 strikeouts in 3 innings. Are we really playing to win or just to just kick can/baseball down the road?

Devrieze was pitching lights out, Jones could have kept him in as well. However, time for the pitching merry go round again, thus began the chain of events. Poor bullpen management.

I don't mind pulling him after 3 innings(he did not leave him in to long)...because he brought in Whaley who is our best arm out of the pin. He got through the 7th easy and then as others have mentioned we changed pitchers again and the field players run slow to balls and drop them, then slow on a ground ball throwing to first from second and give up 7 runs in one inning. It was unbelievable, there was a decent student crowd at the game and this is how we play...I now don't have to wonder why students don't go to many games.
