P-l-e-a-s-e brush that dirt off your keyboard. We're two weeks from the start of the
late signing period and TTBOOK, we have three about-to-be-vacant scholarships and zero public commitments.
I actually don't want to hamper Allison's career progress in any way; but this is a dreadful time to lose him.
Actually April 15th through May 20th is the Regular signing period for Basketball, not the late period. What happened Nov 12th through Nov 19th is known as the early signing period. The NCAA NLI page with dates for this academic year is linked below. I was updating the 2015 Basketball page until the football offer just came in that I'm working on right now but so far everyone listed has not committed anywhere yet. I'll finish that and add or subtract reported offers as soon as I post the FB offer.

Semantics! C'mon, Moose, it's the late signing period for Fall 2015 signees. It's the first signing period of this year.
I just want those scholarships filled with immediate impact talent. I get nervous when we get to April w/o strong verbal commits for the fall. I'm *ill-prepared* for us to go into May, June or July without the roster being filled. The crop of prospects we can attract is already preciously thin.
Chuck, It's not semantics and I wasn't busting on you. I was simply stating a fact. The early signing period is only a week. Why? Because it's at the start of the season and coaches are prepping for that, not out recruiting. Our staff has been out recruiting since the end of our season. The NCAA classes this upcoming period as the REGULAR signing period, not first of the year. These are not my terms. This is what the NCAA calls it. As a comparison the football Regular signing period for this year was Feb 4th through April 1st. For all other sports the Regular signing period is April 15th through August 1st.
I too would love to have several commits right now but I was simply pointing out that we still have many reported offers out that are uncommitted anywhere. And many of them are rated players. Coach Fox has stated several times that he is looking for wing players and he and his staff are out recruiting right now. I'm not planning on jumping off a cliff just yet as we have several targets that have App high on their lists and until Coach Fox gives me reasons otherwise I plan to trust him and what his plan is.
Sorry that I upset you. It was not my intention. I'll leave it alone now.
You didn't upset me. You did correct me and I don't feel that I needed to be corrected. We're pretty much saying the same thing, except we have different interpretations. I've been around a while, too, and understand the difference between early and regular. At least, give me credit for having a little common sense. I've posted links to several LOI sites (some no longer online) and/or quoted the relevant dates every year since the MMB has been on the 'net--including last fall when practice was getting under way. In fact, all the way back to that sad, troll-filled CNN/SI message board in '98 and '99.
My interpretation was merely attempting to state that the signing period that begins in two weeks is the
last bite at the apple our coaches get for signing players to binding letters of intent for next season. After May 20, they can sign players until the cows come home and ask them all to sign LOIs. The only problem being that a signature after that date is only as good as a player's integrity. They're, as you know, non-binding. ASU has been bitten by those "June, July, August snakes" more times than I care to remember.
I don't believe I stated any lack of confidence in Coach Fox. I do think the loss of Jayson Allison at this time could be a detriment to our current recruiting season.
I will cop a plea to being impatient. I have a plaque on my wall given to me years and years ago by my first secretary in my first administrative assignment. It's inscribed, "Dear Lord, please grant me patience--but hurry." Some things haven't changed.
