Exactly. This is why I say I would take the 2 away, 1 home, 1 neutral deal. Just as you said, bring it! Anywhere. Any time.

Let me clarify that I would take the 2, 1, 1 NOW (because of facilities mainly), but in 5 years no way. Once we get our stadium up to snuff, I don't think there is a G5 I would take less than a home-and-home with.

There is a distinct possibility that we could play them this year in a bowl game.

I don't have much of a desire to go see a game in Greenville again. I was in the BOD last time we played and I have never been treated like that in a stadium. I was yelled and cursed at while carrying equipment in and there was an ECU fan who flipped one of the bell sets in the parking lot. I remember laughing at the drunk people yelling at us while we were on the field before halftime. I was fine in the heat, it was their fans that made it unbearable.

I was looking through some of the ECU posts on that Facebook thread, and I know I'm in the minority here, but I kinda get where they're coming from. They've been viewed as the upstarts who get no respect for years now, even when they've scored some pretty impressive wins (and some near-upsets) over P5 schools. They view us as even newer kids on the block who haven't proven ourselves as an FBS school.

And... they're not wrong.

We have incredible potential. If we live up to it, they'll come around. I honestly don't think this is personal. I've know lots of ECU fans who have great respect for App, but I know that many of them don't view us as equals yet. And they won't until we slay some giants. After a few years of that, they'll see themselves in us.

Until then, I'd totally take a 2 @ECU, 1@ASU, 1 neutral deal. That's way more than the ECU fans want to give. They figure that VT wouldn't come to them until they beat VT at a neutral site. So lets beat them at a neutral site or in Greenville. Then we can come to the table as equals.

Just win, baby.

This is the equivalent of hazing the new guy because when you were the new guy others did it to you.

ECU has an option

They can treat others how they didn't appreciate being treated

OR

Act like an adult and face the reality that G5s don't sign two for one deals with other G5s.

I'm fine with 1 neutral site game, home and home, or 1-1-1. We don't set a precedent for other G5s to sign 2 for 1s.

I agree. We've been FBS for one year, and some of our fans have their heads so far up their fannies they can't see daylight. We're one year removed from having LIBERTY come to Boone and clean our clocks.

I don't get the arrogance.

That's an odd thing to say. We are not looking to play in BoA. We didnt build an on campus stadium to then go play somewhere else. Be our guests please.

You don't want a game at BOA? Yeah, right...
If your program ever gets to a point where you could host a game at BOA, half of your fans would cancel their Viagra prescriptions.

For me it all just depends on who it is against.

An SEC team? Sure, I'd love to have a game at BoA against them. Another G5 or even an ACC team (except maybe FSU and Clemson), no, I'd rather play on campus or not play at all. We'll eventually expand the stadium. If NCSU isn't too good to play at ODU and Troy, then App and Charlotte both should expect that they aren't too good to play us at home. Same goes for UNC. They aren't good enough to say its BoA or no deal.

So, all these years when we've heard about taking our rightful place at the table what was really meant was that we should be happy at the kid's table? No. We're both G5 schools. It would set a terrible precedent to take anything less than an even deal. I don't get the willingness to accept that we are somehow inferior.

Would you feel different if ECU somehow got into the Big XII?

That was disappointing. This isn't about who would win, this is about scheduling. G5s don't schedule 2 for 1s with other G5s. If you find an example I'll back down from my opinion.

I don't get the humility. It is not like App is some upstart with no winning tradition. App should never do a two for one with another G5.

Humility? I see it as reality. And for all those who want to see ECU in Boone--you better hope GIllin gets some corporate sponsorships and that more of our alumni start stroking some checks. Unless KBS capacity includes 30k seats, it ain't gonna happen.

You see App fans as arrogant for thinking we deserve a home and home with another G5 school? Youre reality sounds like an inferiority complex.

If it doesn't happen then fine. It's not as if we need their validation. We've already seen that there are desirable opponents who will come to Boone. It's a game I'd like to see, but we shouldn't set a bad precedent to get it.

BoA holds no big allure for me. I've been there many many times. I'm going there tonight to watch a kick ass international soccer double header.

I don't get excited just to step foot in an NFL stadium.

I would much rather see our games in our home stadium.

It's also much more convenient.

Maybe when the light rail is finished we could do a game down there and it would be kind of fun so we wouldn't have to worry about driving down.

So many options for us. I'm sure we will do it eventually. When the time is right. But it holds nothing special.

No, it is not about who would win. It's about where you put 10k EZU fans. I'm not sure we are on the same page. Are you saying we shouldn't play a game in Greenville to get a game with them at BOA? Until we can expand Kidd Brewer?

I could live with that if App gets all the BOA revenue.
