Who says we aren't putting our $$$ where our mouths are?

How many other schools can claim this level of support?

It's time to expand.
The stands have looked pretty empty the last 2 or 3 years. Lots of alumninum showing and reports I have read on this board indicate season ticket sales are down 20%. That doesn't indicate demand for expansion. Look, we have a core base of fans that are going to show up no matter what, many of who post here. We are the lifeblood. However, its the untapped base that needs to step up and show a la 2005-2009 (that have since disappeared and need to return) to make an arguement for expansion.

This has been debated multiple times and the only reason I brought it up again was to point out size of stadium doesn't matter when it comes to getting in-state FBS schools to schedule a home and home, as many here think. The Unc/Odu series is just the latest example.

Moose saying Gillin should get a Miracle Worker award for getting NC State or UNC to Boone is actually an understatement. It is a fact that those schools have nothing to gain by coming to play us at home. And what's so bad about that? We put 30,000 people in the seats for ELON in the SoCon days!

Also, I understand that GaSo on Thursday night has a chance to be a rocking crowd but I hope someone takes a lot of pictures on Thanksgiving weekend and the Arkansas State game before demanding we expand the stadium.

Having a plan to appropriately serve a growing fanbase with SMART stadium expansion is fine but calling for expansion to put an inferiority complex at ease is irrational... IMO!

I'm not taking a specific position on stadium expansion until I see how our season goes and have 2015 home paid attendance numbers in front of me. I will, however, state that any expansion before 2033 will be complicated, simply because we'll be paying off the FY 2007-08 twenty-five (25) year stadium bonds until then. That means a significant portion of the athletic budget will go to pay debt service at least until FY 2032-33. Additional bonds were approved in 2009. They likely won't be retired until FY 2035-36. Perhaps Doug Gillin will build the budget to more than cover and far surpass those ongoing expenses--but we won't know that for a while.

What we very well may build in the short term is additional premium seating--additional club seats and luxury boxes--which generate high revenue and remain in demand. Demand as in a growing waiting list from what I understand

I am tired of this "we can't" attitude on the mountain and within our fanbase and constant excuses of what we can't do this or that. We CAN get P5's to Boone and will - regardless of stadium capacity. The ODU games against UNc and NCSU are proof.

In the meantime it is time for us, the fans to step up, show up and support our team. When that happens week after week maybe expansion will occur. But until that happens, we have no business expanding but that shouldn't stop us from recruiting/seeking these marquee P5 home and homes. Time for us, the fans, to put our $'s and time where our mouth is by attending all home games in force. As mentioned in other threads its embarassing the number of tickets sold to date within a month of kickoff.

I wouldn't let the attendance of a second Thursday game and a Thanksgiving game determine when its time to expand. If we fill the stadium to over capacity for the other 4 games then we have a need. Selling out 2/3 of our games a year would mean we have the demand in place. The vast majority of teams domt sell out every game due to these situations. Of course we still need to build a track first.

Agreed. However at the same time that is nothing but more excuses. Everyone knew Thursday night games would happen in jumping to the G5.
Also, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is a lame excuse as well. Unlike playoff where we knew 1 week in advance, we have known the date of the LaLa game for many months... Again, weak excuses in my opinion and an indicator of a fickle fanbase. If the fanbase as a whole wants a bigger stadium - show up in droves and force the issue. The field of dreams mindset - "build it and he will come," is no way to run a business. The demand should be there first.

By my view, the only way we have been overcapacity in recent years is because the students have turned out in historically large numbers, in addition to general admission seating sales (i.e. - grass and cramming into GA sections). It surely has not been in the reserved seating areas of the stadium.

I agree I am tired of hearing about the Thursday night games and the Saturday after thanksgiving. If you can come, come. If you don't want to, don't.

Where and how much of the "$200 million campaign" money HAS to go to debt, etc.? I thought part of that money was specifically carved out for expansion.

I for one had no idea we would be playing two Thursday night games in one season. It seems asinine to me.

I'm a season ticket holder and have made plans to attend both. Given six months notice it's worth a couple vacation days.

Two national TV games is amazing exposure for our university.

Next year we'll enjoy two away Thirsday games most likely if we perform well this year.
