Re: Official Cowardly Lion prediction thread
I think the weather is going to help their defense more than it helps ours and potentially keep this game closer. I still have confidence in our front 7 who played well against a much better Clemson o-line. I think it's going to be fought and won in the trenches, I give the edge to our big boys, and this will be a game where the S&C work done this summer pays off.

Re: Official Cowardly Lion prediction thread
This game will be the best barometer as to where we are as a team. I'm not sure we learned much from either the Howard or Clemson games. Still much to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of this squad. We will playing a squad that is more a match to us in terms of talent and depth. I'm not sure there is much translation from what we saw in the first two games to what we will likely see Saturday. I expect a very close game and the weather will likely be a factor.

Why would you name your team the Monarchs in George Washington's home state?
We have a better team. Run defense is our strength. I think we'll still be a little shaky on offense, but the defense locks them down.
The Mountain: 28
Sh**ty Kitties: 3
With one defensive TD

Re: Official Cowardly Lion prediction thread
As others have alluded to, I can't help but think our defense matches up very well with a run first, ball control offense with a freshman QB. That said, I do feel that ODU stacks up well with us from an overall talent perspective. Lawry is a beast. We cannot let him get in open space. If we stop him on the ground, they will find a way to get him the ball, as you saw against NCSU last week with the 70 yard receiving TD.
On offense, we have got to get the passing game going. Satt said they have been working on getting free against press coverage. I feel like we will be better in that aspect, especially since we will not be facing Clemson DBs! I would love to see quick slants to Capel (I'm envisioning Dexter Jackson here
) because that man can FLY in open space as we saw on the return against Clemson. I predict we will still struggle a bit in the passing game, but we all know we have a top tier rushing attack to make up for that.
Weather can be the great equalizer, and we may see that on Saturday, but I do feel that we will win the game because of our advantage in both trenches.

I generally disregard most stuff on the Bleacher Report, but they are rather bullish on the good guys this weekend:

Re: Official Cowardly Lion prediction thread
I'm terrible at predicting actual scores so I never do it, but I will say this: Some fans have lost some confidence in Lamb's passing game, but I don't think Lamb or the coaches have lost it. The rain will slow down the passing game, but Lamb is going to be back in form and the Monarchs won't be able to stack the box and defend the pass both. It will be a good game, but as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot again, App wins this one.

It will be interesting to see the crowd size tomorrow with the expected rain. Taking care of the football will be paramount. Understatement I know. We should be able to contain the run game easily and force them to throw in bad weather. I see a defensive TD.

In 2013. They cut the game short out of mercy. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/11/unc-old-dominion-80-20NewApp wrote:Did the Tar Heels really defeat ODU by 60?AppState89 wrote:The team that beat Howard 49-0 -------- 35

In a year in which, coincidentally, ODU beat Howard 76-19.
