Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
Parker Collins had a tweet that seemed troublesome...something like "I can't believe this is happening"

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
I wouldn't say worst...toughest probably. (not counting the Clemson game) Wyoming's record doesn't reflect their abilities and the weather was far from ideal. (although their gameday thread on Wyonation is comedic gold at this point)
Look up Brian Hill's stats and as a sophomore, he's already got two of the best rushing performances in that program's 120+ year history. It's not that we stunk, it he's just a beast.
At least we figured mostly on how to shut him down. I mean hey, we're in the big leagues now. The cake walks are for week 2 with the FCS teams.

We didn't play great and yes we have some fans whose egos grew too big with the ODU win.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Did we really play that bad or are we spoiled fans?
FBS ain't like FCS where you can show up most days, go 60% and beat many teams on talent alone. Every team has talent and you can lose a lot easier if you don't show up.
App earned the win today, no lucking into it. Yes the pick six was fortunate, but Gibbs still had to run it back. We stopped them on multiple fourth downs. We scored a crucial touchdown before halftime and put the game out of reach in the third. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it.

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
It was a rout. Not as pretty or as lopsided as some of us hoped or expected. But we played our C game and it was still never seriously in doubt after halftime.hapapp wrote:Folks looked at their record and thought this would be a rout. If one looked closer, one would have seen that they have the ability to move the ball. Their QB was a Big Ten passing leader at Indiana and Hill, the RB, has been averaging 100+ yards a game. As is often the case, when we experience a little success our fans seem to get carried away thinking that we will win every game 49-0.Gonzo wrote:We sucked today. They're just that bad.
Yikes.

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
I think Wyoming has talent. They're just young and haven't taken that "step" yet. Sound familiar? That being said, whether it was because of the weather or lack of attendance or something else, the Apps looked flat and a bit unfocused yesterday. These games (with big spreads predicted) can be dangerous because motivation and intensity can be difficult. I will wager that the coaches will re-light that fire and we will be back in form.
Hill was very good, and has a bright future, but App was not tackling well. For the first time this year, we seemed to be doing the "bump and wait for them to fall down" thing at times. MANY of their long runs and special returns happened only because opportunities were not wrapped up.

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
This game reminded me of the UTC game in 2005 (which by the way was the last time we gave up 200 yards rushing to a running back).
Things happened too easy at the beginning of the game for us and I think we thought this game was going to be a cakewalk. Wyoming got physical and kept chopping wood.
I was disappointed that we weren't as physical as they were on the line of scrimmage, and that we allowed them to get to the edge at times. We also tackled poorly. Their running back was a beast, but his line got him those openings.
Wyoming is a young team and made a lot of mistakes that can be attributed to youth and focus.
I also think the weather was a factor regarding our passing game. Still, it was pretty close to my prediction.

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
Maybe our guys did let up a bit, or not come in as focused as they should be. If so Im glad we were able to get the win and still give the coaches some ammo to get them refocused. It's probably best that it happened the week before GSU since they have a passing game that can score quickly if the team isn't in the game mentally.
Parker Collins would be a huge loss if he is out for an extended period. From what I've seen our guys behind him aren't quite ready. The GSU game is a good time to get someone experience though as there D is porous at best.

We certainly did not "suck" today. Was not out best game but we did what we had to do to win. Losing sucks.

Re: Wyoming Gameday Chat
I think a lot of you are being over critical of our boys who played a Mountain West team in atrocious conditions and won...this is a team who plays the likes of Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada and Air Force on a regular basis. It's also the same team which destroyed us the last time we played them. Different players but still, the program has come a long way since.
Next week we're in the controlled climate of the Georgia Dome against a Sun Belt team which for all intensive purposes we should be heavily favored to win. I'm fairly confident that we'll be back to form, Lamb will be completing passes and the D will be stopping the Panthers at every chance they get.
So bask in the victory and look forward to a much cleaner game this week.

People pray for everything so why not. I would guess a potential torn ligament if they are asking for prayers. I doubt anyone will know for sure until sometime this week when he can get analyzed.
