I got a similar email from the Charlotte chapter, and had the same thought as you. I can see where some people in this area would be a little more hesitant to come with a 2 hour drive home, but at the same time I don't think we should ever actively promote viewing parties to local areas for home games.

You are correct. If we have 30,000 tickets to sell and there are 2,000 unsold, that's less than 7% of the total available tickets remaining ... a statistical "handful".

Daphne, just a clarification, I thought the 2,000 unsold number was what we needed for a sellout of 25K since thats our capacity? I know once we are sold out they still give out 5-7K for General Admission. I was there for the Elon game of 30+.
Maybe so. Even if we're looking at 25k, we're 8% from sold out. Not quite an A on a seven point scale like I had in high school. Guess the rest of us will have to be a little louder!

Raleigh crowd coming. 3 solid hours and paying for a house. Can't tell you how much my 12 and 11 year olds would love to be 40 mins away so they could see more games, like this monster. I'm sorry, but that's just pathetic. They must be sprinters, Daphne

I agree. At first I thought it was interesting - love to have more butts in Boone but we should not turn a blind eye to those that can't make it and the more casual fans. They can become fanatics and donors too, so it's important to have these events, even in Hickory. It's also easier to show up late and leave early from these events.

I counted around 5pm and came up with just under 2,200 so we moved a decent number today. We should have 25,000 there considering how many students will be there.

Well, my wife is not feeling well and she insists that I come on up the mountain by myself tomorrow to catch the game (which I am definitely doing). I live in Greenville, SC. I am leaving around 10:00am in the morning and heading up to Boone, catching some lunch , walking around King Street for a while, and then heading up toward the stadium at around 4:00pm or so. I will stay for the entire game and then head back down to Greenville with ETA around 3am or so if traffic flows well after the game. Definitely worth it to see the whuppin that we will put on the south georgia eagles . Looking forward to seeing everyone ! :D
By the way, I will have one extra ticket for Section 216 on east side if anyone needs one.

Well my excuse is that I'm at hte mercy of a toddler whose bedtime is 7 and a wife who gets off work at 9. That, and living in Atlanta.

Keep us Atlantans in your thoughts, we're in enemy territory and the sports bars tend to be a little more on the blue and white side than they are black and gold. Lol.

Part of the reason the Ga State Allotment sold out is the fact that they are brining their full marching band. Im not sure how large it is but that takes out a good bit.

I can't imagine any fans choosing to watch from a bar TV if attending in person were an actual option for them. These viewing parties are options for those who are unable to attend. I don't think they really impact attendance at the game.

Anyone know why you cannot purchase a General admission ticket through the online site? Seems like we are missing out on an opportunity for sales.

I received the same email and sent this reply: "I think I'd rather attend the viewing party at Kidd Brewer Stadium. It's only a 45 minute drive from Hickory for crying out loud! GO APP!"

So many people tempting me with single tickets. I'd have to do the same as the wife would have to stay at home with 1 month old.

Believe they have to sell the reserved seats before they open Gen Adm.

Thanks

You won't get one from the Lake Norman Chapter. The majority of our board will be at the game, so we did not plan a viewing party. Of course, we all know Harvey's will have the game, so that's taken care of for those in LKN that can't make the game!

Oh crap. I hate their band worse than I hate their football team. I'll never forget how they acted after the game in 2007.
