I saw it on a kick returner that was at Owens endzone. I thought GS has some sort of holographic helmet numbers. Really childish.

And, immediately disenrolled from The University. This would send a strong message that this type behavior will not be tolerated.boonetown1 wrote:Ok The kid shouldn't have done this and should be tossed out for the season, at least.

From my seat in 203 the laser was halfway or more down and to the left of me. And it did impact the field goal. The kicker reacted to the fact it was there from where i was sitting. The ball and holder were painted with it during the hold.

I noticed it on that field goal, but never saw it again after the PA announcer said if the person was caught they would be removed and it would be a 15 yard penalty.

He's known to recruit very negatively against App State in particular. I'm not going to go into detail about the Obe Fortune situation last year, just know that his mother refused to sign his NLI to Georgia Southern.

How about this genius, bragging on Twitter about using a laser pointer. Our story is picking up a little bit more steam. Last night I only saw mention on our site and gsu fan site. Several local sports outlets are tweeting about it now. Very stupid, in fact cheating. I hate cheaters. Sounds like something you expect at a UNC game not App State. I really hope someone comes forward.

Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
Southern has made a habit of bird-dogging recruits when they get App offers. Not just pursuing our committed guys (which is SOP in recruiting), but repeatedly offering guys right after they receive an App offer, or after they commit to App. It's happened frequently enough that it appears to be a strategy - to the point that one might suspect Southern of offering some kids more to harass App than because they actually want the kid.Gonzo wrote:What has Fritz been doing on the recruiting trail?
They are also known for being aggressively negative toward App in their recruiting.

What else are you going to do when trying to bring a kid to Statesboro? Are you going to go with, Hey wanna live somewhere that smells like a sewer ditch running through a paper mill? Love gnats and mosquitos? We got em! Nope, you're going to trash us every chance you get.

GaSo fans are talking about it but no suggestions that it had any effect on the outcome of the game. Most realize we whipped them lasers or not. This is stupid and should not have happened.

...like we've probably never offered a guy who was offered by Southern first. Come on people. It's recruiting. That's how it works.

Troubling new evidence emerges, suggesting this was not an isolated incident:

Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
The suggestion is that the only reason they offer is because we offered. Obviously, we recruit a lot of the same players. It is understandable that that will happen. I don't think we offer players just because Ga Southern did.APPdiesel wrote:...like we've probably never offered a guy who was offered by Southern first. Come on people. It's recruiting. Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
As I said, it goes beyond that. At least that's the perception from App's side.APPdiesel wrote:...like we've probably never offered a guy who was offered by Southern first. Come on people. It's recruiting. That's how it works.

Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
While anything is possible, I find it hard to believe a coaching staff with so much riding on recruiting would offer a player they otherwise wouldn't have just to dig at us...because...what if the kid accepted and signed. They'd be stuck with a player they otherwise wouldn't have wanted. As you said, we recruit the same areas, we're both going after many of the same players.hapapp wrote:The suggestion is that the only reason they offer is because we offered.
This is FBS football, not a pillow fight. So long as you're not offering a kid $$$ to change a commitment, any (legal) tactic goes.

Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
I don't know if it goes quite as far as offering guys who they really don't want. I think it's more that they go out of their way to try and cause headaches for App. Nothing dirty or illegal about it, as far as I know. Might even be a case of them just recognizing our staff's eye for talent and trying to piggyback off our coaches' leg work. But it is just one more source of enmity between the programs.

Re: Laser pointers at GaSo Game?
We're at the level that we're going after heavily recruited athletes. Every guy we go after is going to have multiple offers. So while I get what you're saying I think we get more bent out of shape over these "tactics" than our coaches do. I'd be willing to bet there have been a few players we missed that GASO, Charlotte, GAST, etc offer then we say "wait a minute...what did we miss?" and maybe threw an offer out at the last minute to see if we could get them.

It's like sales, that's why you have a pipeline that is 3 to 4 times your quota.
