By the skin of our teeth...

but I'll take it. Hopefully this game brings us back to earth. We were lucky to pull it out and definitely have some things to work on before Thursday.

Secondary coverage looked high schoolish!

A state has better qb and receivers. Better tighten it up.

Just started another thread on this, but Arkansas State is losing to GaSt going into halftime. 27-20.

Maybe a little bit of look ahead for both of us?

Was rough for sure, especially considering their run game was not much of a threat.

And this game should now end all defense nickname discussions.

Have we played a team with a strong passing game yet? GaSt has a pretty good qb but is weak elsewhere. I know we made Troy LOOK like a strong passing team, but I can't think of another opponent that didn't mostly rely on the run.

GaSt is super pass heavy, and we handled them fine. I'm honestly not sure what happened today, but it seemed like Troy could throw all day.

On the bright side, Arky State seems to be having its own trap game issues currently.

A wins a win, we move on and prep for stAte.

I think Troy has a better team than their record shows. They were big and athletic and matched up with us well. They came here with a plan, and it almost worked. Their coach got impatient or greedy with the fake field goal, otherwise they were poised for the upset. On the otther hand we seemed a little unfocused and their athleticism forced some holding penalties. However, it is nice to be able to win when things dont go as planned. Way to gut it out team. Hope Blair is okay.

I was quite disappointed with our defensive play, especially the way we've played this season. However, a win is a win and we need to simply move forward. On a separate note, Arkansas State is having all kinds of problems with Ga. State. Ga State 34-27 with over 10 minutes to go in the 3rd. Qtr. But, we still need to correct our mistakes against Troy and play our A game on Thursday night. GO APPS!!!

I don't want to take anything away from Troy, they gave us one hell of a game. However, we were not focused for this game. For a team looking to break into the top 25 we didn't do ourselves any favors today. At the same time, the way App hung in there and won shows character, winners do find a way to win. And, that they did. Go Apps!!

I wasn't a fan of how we played defense today. We didn't attack, we dropped eight into coverage far too often. We are at our best when we bring pressure and force the offense to react to us. Think about it, how many times did you hear John Law's name called today? Eric Boggs? All five of the linebackers who get significant snaps are playmakers and today we didn't give them the chance to be difference makers.

When everyone was still giddy after beating GaSo I started a thread saying we need to focus on Troy. Everyone including coaches had a Georgia Southern hangover. Woody for the first time seemed to miss adjusting to a offense. We got no pressure on the QB and inexplicably failed to blitz in the 2nd half. We rushed 3 and dropped into zone or a soft man. We played poorly and I'm trying to figure out how Troy lost to Idaho and South Alabama. We better hit the film room hard tomorrow, get the liniment spread on the sore muscles and get ready because it's clear we can be beaten. Based on today's performance every team we play is capable of whipping us. Lastly the biggest weakness today was missing Beau Nunn. I understand he's gone for the regular season and that is a huge loss.

I also noticed that I didn't hear the name John Law once today. But I still don't understand how we can have that many guys in coverage and they still have so much success passing.

This game brought back too many memories of Furman some 10 years ago.

Rekdiver, where do you see that B Nunn is likely done for the regular season? Listed as questionable on injury report today and the AppState beat writer stated he'd likely have played if the game was against Ark. St. Who is your source saying he's done?
