UMass rescheduled our game for next year. This is how in NCCU came on our schedule.

I was not aware of the reschedule, and I agree thanks UMASS. The Minutemen are now our new favorite mascot, after Yosef of course.

I guess that means our stadium expansion will be done before next season. ;)

IF..And we are talking a big IF...We go into Rocky Top, and win, and the Miami game is on Sept 10. You can be assurred the attendance record will be shattered on Sept 10. They will have to find a way to fit 40k, and I can only dream of how loud The Rock will be that game. Beat Miami, then every home game will be packed.

This has the potential to really put App State on the map, for more than just the Sept 1, 2007 victory.

First things first...Beat Ark State.

I think we have ODU on Sept 10th and currently have NCCU on Sept 17th next year. If they're saying this game will replace the NCCU game it should fall on Sept 17th. Regardless I want to see this published and confirmed moreso than just a little blurb in the Miami Herald.

This should be a big boost to season ticket sales as well as I'm sure Gillin will push the idea that the only way to guarantee a seat for Miami is with season tickets.

We might want to get on the ball with the whole track removal too. We probably can't build seats, but removing the track would give more room for temporary seats in the North end zone.

I think his point is that UMASS pushed our game out, and we had to pick up the NCCU game, which is (hopefully) the one we are dropping / buying out in order to get the Miami deal.

Re: expansion and seating, we're doing things in the right order:

1) Schedule appealing games that create demand that meets or exceeds supply.
2) Use the perception of scarcity to drive season ticket sales.
3) Let the resulting huge crowds serve as evidence for the need to expand, and let fans feel the pinch of getting either lower-quality seats than they're used to, or no seats at all.
4) Use the urgency created by scarcity to appeal for donations toward expansion.

That would possibly set some attendance records.

And based on how they played Clemson, maybe we have a chance.

UMass got a game with South Carolina next season, so they bought out their game with us, which was scheduled for 9/17/16. Without them doing that, we wouldn't have had NC Central on the schedule, and wouldn't have been able to buy them out to schedule The U.

Sounds like they're starting to get wise to their AD's excuses. He's been claiming that nobody will come play them in Statesboro, because they're all so terrified by the time they beat a 4-8 Florida team. Meanwhile he's scheduling road games with any P5 that will have them in order to pay the bills for their stadium expansion.

They had five home games last year, and will have only five in each of the next two years. The FBS teams they've scheduled to play in Statesboro so far: Western Michigan, UMass (2018), Kent State (2019). Ouch.

As long as we don't have to use an ACC officiating crew, I'm all about this!
“When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows.”
