My sister in law is due with her first child Dec. 16th. Here's to hoping the baby comes early so I can make it to a bowl game!

I'm also a member of the Iron Dukes (graduate degree from Duke, and son of Duke undergraduate), and I can tell you with some certainty that the school's athletic department having to buy up unsold tickets will absolutely play a role in future selection committee's consideration. Bowl committee's have access to and will look at past performance of ticket sales through the university. Not to mention, if the university has to buy up unsold tickets, then your Yosef Club donation is kind of paying for empty seats because some App fans bought through StubHub instead of the school. That's just dumb.CharleyHustle wrote:In reality, the place tickets are purchased doesn't really matter. ASU will be required to sell a specific number of tickets regardless of the bowl we are chosen to play in. Tickets that are not purchased by ASU fans must be purchased by the athletic department.
It most definitely matters. Buy your tickets from Appalachian. If you're willing to make a donation, buy tickets even if you're not going. It matters.

I've got to make this first one. It's historic for the program, and its going to be a lot of fun! Hoping for the Big Easy for many reasons, but am stoked for any of the four. The 19th works better than the 23rd, but if strange things happen, I'll be on the Christmas Eve red-eye back home. First things first- stomp Idaho and get some needed rest and healing on the open date in preparation for the home stretch.

Even if I cannot go; I will buy tickets. However, the site does not give a specific "call to action". When and where the ticket applications will become available.

That is a good question. I may be too eager but, it is already "later this week" and I am ready to request.

Tickets will be available after December 6 when we know which bowl we make. No way i can make December 23. The 19th is a go however.

I strongly disagree.CharleyHustle wrote:In reality, the place tickets are purchased doesn't really matter. It matters quite a bit.
If everyone bought tickets from stubhub vs. the ticket office two negatives occur.
One, App is on the hook to buy ~$500,000 worth of tickets out of our budget which impacts spending in other areas. Those dollars could go to recruiting, coaches, facilities, etc.
Two, when the bowl reps ask how many tickets did your fans buy from the university for the last bowl game and compare that to our peers we will lose a debate in a very important metric.

Re: Bowl Game Info/Tickets
Don't know how many App will be required to buy/sell, but at least conceivably, it would be nice to sell more than the minimum requirement, right?
I would say the upshoot is, if you are going, it's best to buy your tickets through App. But I'm also not going to tell anyone else how to spend their time or money. So if you get a good deal through StubHub, good for you, enjoy the game and thanks for supporting App in that way.

Re: Bowl Game Info/Tickets
We may know before the 6th depending on what the NO Bowl wants to do. If they want UL and they don't have 6 wins before then, then it may be Dec 6 before we know. If UL is their choice and they have 6 wins they don't have to wait until Dec 6 to announce. If they want to go in another direction they can make their offer before Dec 6. Once the NO Bowl has chosen then the other bowls can make their selections.Rekdiver wrote:Tickets will be available after December 6 when we know which bowl we make. No way i can make December 23. Re: Bowl Game Info/Tickets
As a ticket holder at other schools like Marshall and WVU and experienced bowl games anyone that App State is selected for attend. It is a celebration of the program, the university, and the fans.
Purchasing your tickets from the school is important and vital. If we do not sell the allotment that is given to the school then the school has to purchase the amount not sold. So if you plan on going buy your tickets from App, set with the App fans, cheer for the team. And I am dang proud of the program and the fans.

You're doing a whoollleeee lot of guessing on this one.boonetown1 wrote:Everyone does realize we aren't going to have a good turnout for a bowl, right? None are in close proximity and there's not enough interest in our bowls to travel that close to Christmas. We will probably pull 6 to maybe 8k for a bowl game. Especially if it's against a western Michigan type team. Sad, but true.

I don't know for 100% that I will be able to make the bowl game, but I do know that I will purchase at least two tickets through App.
Maybe you could get Yosef points for bowl ticket purchases. Thoughts?

I can fly to Orlando for a reasonable price and make it more vacation/Bowl Game, which will go over better with my tweenager. For Bama or NO, I might need to hitch a ride!

My crew will be there no matter the location or opponent. It's a historic event.
Don't write off those Bama cities though. According to those I've asked, Mobile is a reallu good time. I'd rather go there than Orlando. Of course the Big Easy is my first choice.

I will be there regardless of location. I will also get my tickets through the school. Now, let's win out!
Re: Bowl Game Info/Tickets
If App doesn't sell the required amount of tickets could we very well go into the hole due to a bowl game?
Is it better to gain exposure and lose money, or later reject bowl games due to cost?

One game does not a postseason make.
More App Games > Less App Games

I am not aware of any schools rejecting bowl bids because of costs, just like they don't reject the FCS playoff money loser as well.
