official Eddie Stanky prediction thread
Nearly fourteen months ago, South Alabama marched right into Kidd Brewer Stadium and politely welcomed Appalachian to the Sun Belt with a lopsided loss. The game was the second for Appalachian in the Sun Belt era, as the Mountaineers had faced Georgia Southern the week before, but it was the first real taste of competition from the new conference. Since that loss, and starting 0-2 in Sun Belt play in 2014, the Mountaineers have won twelve of their next thirteen conference clashes. That game last season may not represent the current state of either Appalachian or South Alabama, but that is not lost on the coaching staff of the Mountaineers. They remember what it felt like to get manhandled at home in their true Sun Belt opener. That's not to say that the Mountaineers are looking for revenge, but the ultimate focus on getting that tenth win in the regular season is a major motivating factor. Knowing that a bowl game is on the horizon also is not enough to distract a team that is extremely hungry to finish this season off the right way.

I know losing to Liberty was the nadir, but that game last year was about as low as it gets. I left the stadium thinking we were light years away from being good.
Would love to see us return the favor Saturday. Feel like we haven't really seen our A game since Georgia Southern. Not sure it will happen this week either, but hopefully we do enough to get a win #10.

I feel the last few weeks I've shortchanged our defense by thinking they will give up more points than they actually do, so....

Re: official Eddie Stanky prediction thread
Talk about a trap game..... Everyone is looking past USA to the bowl game. Those guys are squarely focused on handing us our a&&es to make it to a bowl game. With the injuries, the bowl announcements, slow play of offense..... You guys better hope the defense can show up like a champ. I'm not convinced we win this one. I hope we have the best game ever, cause we are gonna need it! In all reality the game shouldn't be close but it will be. One of two outcomes. A shootout with last team with the ball winning or a one or two touchdown game. No blowout here. I just don't see where USA has given up on their season yet. A cornered animal is a dangerous one. I would love to eat my words and see a huge blowout but I think we lose focus and have to scrap for a win (best case). I won't even try to venture a score.
P.s. the other angle is that the sunbelt tells USA to lay down so they don't ruin Apps chances going into a bowl game. Imagine the crap storm the Sunbelt would have it both App and Ga South lost.

Re: official Eddie Stanky prediction thread
App left 14 points on the field last week due to turnovers (a fumble and pitching the ball to the invisible man), definately need to clean that up. If the turnovers are limited this weekend we win convincingly.

Looking forward to getting win #10 on the season. Offense needs to get it in gear though. I can bet the house if we throw on first down and don't complete the pass it will be a Cox run to the left or right on 2nd down with the stretch play. Offense becomes too predictable at times, but hoping we throw in a few more wrinkles to keep drives going.
