Booked my room at the Comfort Inn & Suites on Chantilly Parkway, about 9 miles away from downtown on I-85. I am guessing that the team hotels might be the Embassy Suites and Renaissance Hotel. I am hoping after the official announcement some rooms downtown open up, if not I at least have a nearby room. Like most of you, I am excited about the bowl as the timing couldn't be better to make it easy to get there. This way I will only miss one day of work versus 3 days with that other bowl...

We are at the Hampton as well. Is it real BBQ or that Ketchup based spew?
We're booked at the Hampton as well, but I''ll warn you about the bar-b-que, it's Alabama you may wish for the tomato based if they serve the nasty mayonnaise based sauce that seems to be a delicacy down there.
If it is Dreamland BBQ, its red sauce. They are known for their ribs. Have been to the one in Birmingham - good stuff.
Make sure you pick up a quart or two of the Dreamland BBQ sauce. We always grab a quart as we drive through Mobile on the way to New Orleans and two quarts on the return trip.

I did the same a couple summers ago when I was making regular trips to B-ham.

Ohhh The light bulb just turned on, I've been the the Dreamland BBQ in B'ham as well, and you're right their ribs of off the chain. I didn't realize they were a chain.

Speaking of going out, anyone aware of a good pub or tavern the App fan base can takeover on Friday night?

I believe the Embassy Suites is less than a block from Dreamland.

Hampton Inn for me as well. I really cannot believe that people are complaining. First year of eligibility and we are going bowling. When we made this decision in the first place people were worried we'd toil in obscurity with 3 win seasons like WKU for years before we sniffed a bowl. Now all the sudden people think we deserve to go play in a "big bowl" without proving anything. That's not who app is as a program anyway, we've always earned what we've gotten. Time to lay the ground work to earn bigger and better post season rewards. The one thing I will say, is that a lot of people, including young players, see Orlando as a "destination city." Don't agree that the game should go to the fourth place team. I know its new, but when trying to sell the game as a "reward," to both players and fans, a place like Orlando beats a small town. Look at how excited SEC fans get to have a shot at going to NO for the Sugar Bowl.

Agree with other posters, so glad its not Godaddy, that would be almost impossible to get people to b/c of timing. It does bother me that there seems to not be a lot of people planning attending in my age demographic, late twenties early thirties. Most common reasons I've heard are the distance (8.7 one way from Raleigh) and in turn the price of flights. Thought the school would've put together a more affordable package so that we could get these type of people down there. Small worry, but I'm concerned for overall turnout. Hope we put on a good showing attendance-wise.

I wasn't able to make it to Boone for a game this year, which makes it even more awesome that five friends will be joining me in Montgomery for this one!

This is Dreamland BBQ in downtown. Their ribs (and banana pudding) will change your life. Take a selfie before you go in so you remember your old self because you'll never be the same. The "Alley Bar" is next door, and they both back up to the pedestrian only area called "The Alley". This is where App fans should congregate Friday and hopefully triumphantly Saturday night after the game. This is where I will be. The Railway Brewery is across the street too! Good football, local beer, BBQ, and people!

I missed every National Championship due to the Iraq war. This will be my first post season App game outside of Boone. I'd love to see the same numbers and energy that we had in Chatanooga! This is going to be epic! GO APP!

It's way better for us overall, no way that a lot of fans could go on the 23rd.

Dreamland is the place near the hotel. Pretty sure it started in Birmingham and, according to my friend who recently relocated to B-ham, is one of the locals' favorites.

The wasn't any mayo based sauce on my plate. Might have been some in the place but I sure wasn't looking for it. [emoji51]

My wife and I fall in your demo. We are driving (with our 2 year old) down and back that weekend.

Childcare seems to be the biggest hurdle for our friends but it would be nice to see some cheaper packages.

Caravaning from Raleigh on Friday the 18th. Let's all make sure we have our magnets, flags, etc out for the trip down I-85. It's time to let the world know AppNation is rolling to Montgomery!

If I see you at a stop along the way, expect to hear an "APP" yell, and I'm expecting you to respond with a Biiiigggg "STATE" !!

We got a room at double tree Hilton downtown. They first said they didn't have any then they said they had saved a block of rooms just for bowl game. From what I see it seems fairly close to everything idk?
