Best outing of the season. Frankly I expected a hard fought win , not the blow out. And it was domination . It was one game but we looked like a top two or three team in the Belt today.

a few points and questions today.

GREAT GAME APP!!!!! Nice, fun, well rounded, team win.

Nice crowd. Wish more students would show up. What could there possibly be to do today other than a great basketball game. Hopefully they are all skiing.

The AppState radio broadcast is so good.

I have asked this a few times, but never get an answer. How many tune in to ESPN+ to watch our games? I would love to know the total of this game. JMU probably gets a good amount of support from their fans and I would think we have a pretty good support. Does anyone know the numbers or how to get them?

How many listen to the App radio broadcast? I guess I am asking how many active fans from all three sources....in-person, TV, Radio???
A great deal of the students haven't made it back up the mountain from break due to the snow and ice that hit off the mountain and all throughout the southeast. I was suprised there were as many there were there.

Interesting stat, we shot 58.8% from 3 and 53.8% overall. Another is our starting guards each had 7 rebounds.
Great win today! I like what I’m seeing. The team has been shooting lights out off some good ball movement the past few games. Pair that with a stingy D and you get ~20 point wins. I’m not sure they’ll maintain the high level shooting, especially going back on the road, but the D should travel. If they can continue the good ball movement and strong defense, the team is starting to gel and could make a serious run. Take the damn stairs!

This is so bad I laughed out loud, what a terrible take.

Great win Kerns and Co.
I’m talking Alston, Clarke, etc getting some minutes before there’s one minute left with a 20-25 point lead. Maybe with 4 minutes left. What’s terrible about that opinion?
In one word, it was petty.

First post in the thread and you choose to not say anything positive and criticize coach Kerns for something so minor like three minutes of playing time.

You sound like the parent of a middle school player whose child rides the bench.

But thanks for the chuckle. Best win of the season.
ad hominem much? I love Kerns and have been extremely supportive throughout his tenure. In fact, he was one of two guys I hoped we’d get and actively mentioned on here when the job opened in 2019. I was making an observation, not intending to be a criticism…
Poor use of ad hominem, your take focused on such a small part of the game and easy to refute.

Glad you support him, reading your post that was difficult to infer.
Just curious. What’s your refutal on that “small part of the game”?
My concern would be fatigue of the starting guards and/or injuries as we move through the conference season, but maybe Tate, Dodd, and Conners/Threadgill can handle the bulk of the workload and we’re riding with them….works for me if we continue the success. I was just thinking we might see some spot minutes from a few players to rest some guys when we’re hanging onto a huge lead. Not a criticism of coaching, just curiosity/observation.

Good take, especially for the students east of Winston. My sophomore got halfway up the big hill on 421 Friday and had to turn around and come back to Raleigh, it was bad unless you had 4WD. Tomorrow around 4 expect significant traffic coming up 421

Given the mass exodus at the end of last season, it was hard to predict what was going to happen this year. It’s great to see the squad performing so well this early in conference play!

And kudos to DK and the staff for landing solid talent and working with them to build teamwork and chemistry so quickly.

Next game is 5 days away, your point may have validity if it were a Thursday game.

This is also a team that has only played 16 TOTAL games together, every possession is a fairly large percentage of their time together.

Lastly, we play JMU again seven days from now, can’t let them finish strong, it was important to beat them soundly.

You wanted to give players 5 minutes instead of 1 that is a tiny difference with much more down side than upside based upon the nature of this team and timing in the schedule.

Lead with a positive next time if you enjoy the team and coach, it will go a long way to avoid this discussion going forward.

Fair enough points. I guess I didn’t see my outlook as something negative that would elicit such an emotional attack (I’m trying to imagine a friend or coworker reacting like that if I were to say the same thing in person and can’t think of any adults who would). It was more of a surprised that a few more didn’t play more comment. I don’t mind discussion. I actually prefer it. Your last response explained your rationale instead of calling me out for a terrible opinion that differs from yours. That’s progress. Lead with a more rational reaction next time if you’d like to avoid these discussions.

If a friend walks in after our best performance of the year and their first comment was to nitpick substitutions in the last five minutes of the game I’d laugh in their face on a horrible take. Which was exactly my first post. Sorry that upset you.

That checks out…based on your historical posts, it appears you’re not exactly someone who should tell others to “lead with a positive”. Just saying…

Great win before a really tough stretch. Most the Sunbelt knotted up at the top. Somehow ODU tearing things up even though winless ULM took them to overtime... If the team can win these next two they're in a really solid place heading to the back half of the season.

There are three types of posts, biased to the positive, bias to the negative, and being objective.

If you pay close attention I tend to be in the third category.

In this thread I’ve been objectively positive.

Best win of the season and proud of the strides the team has made in a month.

Feels good doesn’t it 311neers ? For all , if you haven’t watched DKs post game on the YouTube, it will give you some insight into his character. The guy gets it and shares the credit with those behind the scenes. Some days the shots just don’t fall but if you do the right things , overall , it’s going to pay off.

Feels great, In sure it does for the guys as well! Can you or someone please share the link to the presser? Would be helpful for some of us to continue to learn more about him/our system and how he coaches the game.

The road hasn't been good for us this year, ODU will be a test.
