Re: Birmingham Bowl
We need to hold onto what sone of what we got
Alexander impressed me today on a few of the runs. Hopefully 14 comes back healthy. We will need portal guys as typically true freshman do not contribute immediately at an all conference level. We need Jimmy and Joe's that can be all conference type players in 26.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
Honestly, a better showing than I expected.
Considering we were an entirely one-dimensional team with our QB situation, there is not a coach in the country who could have done any more with what we had. The reason it was even remotely a game is because our defense came to play and Wilson is a flashy runner. We couldn't throw a pass over 5 yards and when we did it was to the other team, it's not very hard to defend that.
We now know if we don't get a QB in the offseason, we're in for another long year.
Go App and thanks for an extra game to watch.

I also think some can be attributed to NIL. Hopefully, this coaching staff is given a higher budget.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 5:11 pmThat’s just a small part of how putrid our talent evaluation had become. Think of it this way, if you were a Stink fan, would you be happy with the season that Georgia Southern had this year? Because that’s probably what App would’ve done as well.
Let’s revisit this same time next year.
Our QB room would have been:
Wiles, Gillon, and Wilson. Probably Estep who is at Pembroke now and couldn’t become the starter there.

This is the most proud I’ve been since the JMU hail marry. Undermanned, untested, hung tough. This was App football, the stink should feel like shit.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
Exactly. I said when we made a change this would be at least 2-3 years, maybe 4. I don't know for sure on staff yet but they need some time. As long as Loggains gets us to earn a bowl game I would think he should be safe after 2026. I do expect to see improvement but if he is able to win 9 or more next year I would be impressed.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 5:11 pmThat’s just a small part of how putrid our talent evaluation had become. Re: Birmingham Bowl
The issue I’ve had all year is seeing the same mistakes over and over with no improvement. It would be easy to blame the players but after awhile it stops at the top.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 5:15 pmNothing but respect from one old dog to another. Re: Birmingham Bowl
I hope so, it's would be difficult to get any worse. I cannot believe how far this program has fallen in the last five years. Despite NIL/portal and the implosion of college football along with the struggles of the new staff this year, on paper the future does seem brighter.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 5:11 pmThat’s just a small part of how putrid our talent evaluation had become. Re: Birmingham Bowl
Wilson struggled with his passing, but you have to wonder if he had reps with the 1’s for the last few weeks, could a winning game plan have been put together.
Good effort by the players who stayed.
Glad DLo got another game to practice being a head coach. Still looking for that moment where he nails time management or out coaches the other sideline.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
Eight wins, with one of those being over the stink, and a bowl game (hopefully a win), will be a step in the right direction.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 5:18 pmExactly. Re: Birmingham Bowl
This is his first game since the Shrine Bowl. Two years ago.He has obvious athletic ability. Had he been practicing and playing QB this season , of course he would have played much better today. Another negative on this staff.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
It ended about like I thought it would but I didn't think we would get here like this.
Line play on both sides of the ball was better. Run game was better. We could have won this game but the core of what needed to change did not.
Everything else was the same, red zone turnovers, penalties at crucial times and bad third down defense.
A tip of the cap for the guys that showed up and played hard but the lack of progress this year has me very concerned about the future. I understand we had a good recruiting year but it usually takes 2-3 years for that to have an impact. IF they stay and develop.
Very concerned that the APP State we have loved to watch the last 25-30 years may be gone for the foreseeable future. I am also starting to doubt this coaching staff can turn things around. Kids played hard today, proud of them.

And another thing , we go from a high of the recruiting class to the low of a nationally televised embarrassment loss to a school that hates us.

No one was watching this game besides app/Georgia southern fans, and degenerate gamblers. We will be fine.
